Titans DE Kearse arrested

June 22, 2008

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Tennessee Titans defensive end Jevon Kearse was arrested Sunday morning on charges of driving under the influence.

Kearse was arrested by the Vanderbilt Metro Police, then transported to Nashville's Metro jail and booked.

A spokesman for the Metro Nashville police told PA SportsTicker that Kearse was seen speeding and swerving several times while traveling on West End Avenue.

When he was stopped, Kearse exhibited slurred speech, red eyes and smelled of alcohol. Kearse refused to take a breath test, police said.

The Titans could not be reached for comment.

Selected 16th overall by the Titans in the 1999 NFL draft, Kearse spent his first five seasons with the Titans before signing with the Philadelphia Eagles. After being released by Philadelphia, Kearse rejoined the Titans in March, signing a two-year deal worth $6 million.
If posted elsewhere, feel free to delete, but I thought this would be useful to some.

A. Every Nashville city resident knows the cops run a speed trap Fri/Sat night on west end from 31st to 21st ave. If you're driving buzzed in Nashville, that is about the worst street to do it on, take Charlotte or side roads.B. I saw some players partying at Cabana on Friday night, I guess they kept the partying goin thru the next day! Granted that bar is on the other side of the VU campus, so Kearse probably wasnt drinking there.

C. In 2008, if a player can keep his *weight down* and keep his nose clean and out of the papers, he should make a team in the NFL--No Felons League!

I wonder if the DA will take a page from the way it works in Buffalo and waste three weeks (empaneling a grand jury) to determine whether or not Kearse was drinking anything. :coffee:
