Jax Re-Signs Toefield (1 Viewer)

Ah for crissakes...

In my dynasty draft, I managed to snag Toefield and Pearman before Drew came along...

...and they are likely #4 and #5 RBs... :sigh:

Yeah I have Pearman in some larger dynasty leagues.Does anyone know if it's basically a given that Toefield and Pearman will never amount to anything in FF?

Toefield signed back with JAX because he didn't receive sufficient interest elsewhere. That probably says something since he's 26 and has done little so far in 4 years in the league. I'll also note, though, that JAX offered him a longer contract but he chose the one year deal because he wants to test the FA waters again next year.Pearman he been in the league two years, is primarily a return man, and with Toefield's signing the 4th string RB (and that doesn't count Greg Jones). The best shot he'd have at fantasy value would be to move on, but his special teams role should keep him around in 2007. He becomes a RFA in 2008. Nothing in his history indicates a starting role anywhere if/when he does leave. I wouldn't hold roster spots for either one. Chances are very slim either will make a splash in the coming year, and probably ever. There must be more promising players available to you.

Dont discount the Jaguars' injury history. Sure Drew, Taylor and Jones are ahead of Toefield but the Jaguars like what they see in him and he is a very valuable commodity if Taylor were to go down for a significant stretch. He ran real well in camp last year and there are rumors flying around that Greg Jones has bulked up since the injury and may be used primarily as a lead fullback. Hence, in the event of an injury to Taylor or Drew, Toefield becomes the #2 option. I like him, as you may tell, as he runs strong and is a very decisive runner. He's a nice compliment to those tailbacks currently on the roser. I suspect he makes the roster this year and we lock him into an extention if possible next year. But dont expect too much. Jacksonville's RB's are a nightmare to predict.
