JAX starters (1 Viewer)

i believe jax has the #5 seed locked up and will play pitt most likely. do they rest their starters and if so, what does that mean for fred taylor and MJD. taylor has been the work horse the last few weeks, but MJD has been just as important to the team. do both players rest? or, is this a time where taylor plays a half and then gives way to MJD?

There is no reason that Jacksonville should be playing any of their starters. They're a hot team and they're locked into the 5 seed.....

Local paper has this conjecture (no confirmation from JDR)-

RushingJaguars: Running back Fred Taylor (five consecutive 100-yard rushing games) likely won't play against the Texans, along with Maurice Drew. Seldom-used LaBrandon Toefield might take the bulk of the carries.

i have to start either P Manning or Garrard in the finals this week. Looks like im screwed
same boat: i have to decide between romo and garrard and MJD vs. someone like greg jennings, adrian peterson (CHI), or hines ward in my flex. looks like i'll be playing peterson vs. NO. Oy, i hate week 17 championships.

Same here: Garrard vs. Romo. My one hope is that Del Rio gives Garrard a quarter or a half to stay sharp.

Garrard, Taylor and MJD will NOT play this week. Local Jax radio station stated earlier today and Vic Ketchman the Jags website guy in a Q&A stated the same. Quinn Gray, Toefield will see a ton of action.

Damnit!!!Well i guess I better hope Manning plays a half since Harrison is back but looks like I am screwed! a Half a P manning (does that = eli?) may still be better then most everything else.

double damn...i suppose a half of a TO-less romo is also better than none...i'm glad i picked up adrian peterson (chi)...

Where did you read that Romo is playing for a half? I didn't see that anywhere. Link?

they are nuts for resting garrard. guy should get as many snaps as possible as little as he's played over the years.

:goodposting: thats what i was thinking too. Part of the reason I picked hip up was in case PManning didnt play week 17, he might be a good keeper next year when i lose manning and that he should be playing. 1 because of your statement and 2 because i didnt think JAX would wrap it up so easily....

This was printed on the moring of 12/28:

Garrard: No letup for Jaguars

Jaguars quarterback David Garrard said there wasn't any letup in the intensity of practices Wednesday and Thursday, though the team has nothing at stake Sunday in Houston.

"Everything is upbeat," he said. "Guys are relaxed, but we're still dialed in and ready to go."

Garrard said he'll start, but he hasn't been told how long he'll play. In a similar situation against the Tennessee Titans in the 2005 regular-season finale when he was starting for the injured Byron Leftwich, Garrard played a half and the Jaguars led 27-0 before Quinn Gray took over at quarterback. The Jaguars won the game 40-13.

Anyone of any more official scoop? Has Del Rio actually said Gerrard & Taylor are not playing?

Vic got a backmount weedkiller sprayer dealio from his wife for Christmas.

I didn't listen much past that, but for anybody who wants to hear what the webmaster has to say about who will start or not, I think that's the show referenced.

Taylor's 7 carries last week weren't exactly a full load; thank goodness he made so much out of them. I doubt he's gonna touch the field this week.

no link, just my speculation. romo's thumb a little dinged; TO out; let them play enough to maintain a rhythm and then pull romo before any more injury. i'm speculating that they'll play it like a preseason game...

I listened to this section of the show and it was all "what would you do" or "what should be done". It was not "Gerrard, Taylor, and MJD won't play". It was all opinion. The show was taped/aired on Wednesday the 26th, while on the 28th Gerrard is stating that he will be starting.

Okay. You're speculating they'll play him as little as a half.(Most everybody else is presuming he'll play a series or two. That's why you were asked for a link, by somebody who wanted to know where it might be disclosed that he'll play as much as a half.)

With a bad thumb and nothing to play for, I don't get why Romo would play for more than a couple of series. I have no link to provide, just my opinion.
