JCM Value (1 Viewer)

G.O.A.T. Tier
I have Jacory Croskey-Merritt (JCM) in a ppr te premium dynasty. Was offered Sean Tucker and JK Dobbins for him. Also, the same owner sent Tucker and a 2026 2nd for him.

Do I take either deal or wait and see how this first week goes?

Secondly, I’ve seen some discussion of JCM going for a 2026 2nd, is that approximate value?

At the moment, a 2nd Round pick seems to be the value set. Almost every trade I have seen for him has been that. There is no way I am taking the Tucker Dobbins deal. Dobbins is a fine short-term asset, but neither has the long-term potential of JCM. The 2nd Round deal is fair, though I don't think Sean Tucker adds much. I have been mostly buying JCM for a 2nd on contending teams. He's worth the risk. If you can make the playoffs this year, I would hold, the potential is worth more than a 2nd. If you are not contending and do not believe he could pop, sell now, less Week 1 kills his value.

Thank you so much! I am a contending team, so I will hold. Really appreciate the response and assessment!

I think a 2nd + Tucker is about right depending on your expectations for JCM. I'd rather try to tier up using him as bait, though. For instance, I recently moved JCM + Shipley + a 3rd for Pollard in a league.
That’s a really good strategy, thank you for sharing that idea. I will most likely try to do that

So the owner revised the offer and now it’s Mostert(I have Jeanty), Friermuth, and early 2nd for JCM. Think still hold?

I'll let @Meng jump in here, but I still have my hesitations. Mostert is out today, and reports have Zamir White as the backup in LV. He does nothing for this deal. I do like Freiermuth and the early 2nd feels right. If I can win this year, I am holding JCM. If I not likely to make the playoffs, I make the deal.

Mostert is currently a healthy scratch -- he does not seem like he should be valued much.

Freiermuth can be a plug and play tight end.

A presumed early second is always a great out for Croskey-Merritt -- Chris Rodriguez is inactive today. This may bode well for Croskey-Merritt given the drumbeat of the offseason/camp. He should be behind Austin Ekeler to start but that drumbeat has been constant and here we are W1 with Rodriguez inactive leaving Jeremy McNichols as the pass-pro and special teams ability.

If you believe in Croskey-Merritt, it would be a hold. If you believe this is a great OUT, then Freiermuth and a second is fine; especially if you are 100% certain it will be an early second.

Thank y’all so much for the quick responses and discussion points. I am prob in the top 3 or 4 teams and lost in the championship last year. So holding is prob the right move and I don’t have a lot of RB depth.

I am just on the fence on JCM, love y’all’s analysis and fan and reader of Matt’s RSP. I haven’t looked at next year’s draft so not sure would be available and solid at 13-15. I would wager that is where the pick will fall.

This is what makes this fun. I have good depth at TE with LaPorta as my starter and likely and Pitts behind him, so leaning on holding as the drumbeat seems to be strong. Maybe he’s the next Pacheco that comes out of the late rounds,

Thank y’all so much!!
