Jeff Garcia (1 Viewer)

Diamond One

From what I've read so far, I wonder if there is a more "who the hell knows how he will fare" player in the league right now that new Buc QB Jeff Garcia. My favorite: USA Today's Fantasy Football Guide 2007 calls him a gamble (duh) with worse risks, but also states -- and I quote -- that:

"Garcia closed last season strong for Philadelphia and heads to a largely similar offense at Tampa Bay."

Similar offense? Not trying to be sarcastic, but what I missing here? Seriously, a 10 & 6 Phila vs. a 4 & 12 Tampa last year similar? Would love to hear what the pool has to say on this one... Cheers in advance,

See: Style of offense.

Tremblay currently has him ranked as the #9 QB, but overall he is #26. I think he has the ability to do pretty good this season, but he also could suck bad. Right now there is no telling which way he will go.

Pros

- mobile

-accurate

-they are saying WR is a strength with Stoval and Boston coming along

-Stevens gives him another big target

-Sears and Joseph will anchor down the interior of the line

Cons

-OT- Trueblood didn't do very well in the preseason opener against NE, and he hasn't been looking that good in camp. Petitgout(sp) still hasn't even put pads on, and NYG fans say he sucks anyways.

TB basically has a line with no quality tackles, and this could have Jeff Garcia on the quite a bit this year. If he doesn't get protection on his blind side Luke McNown could see time. BTW, I would keep him on your radar. He is looking very good this year. I was actually high on him last year, and then he got hurt.

I don't understand the confusion. Both Gruden and Reid were offensive assistants with the Packers under Mike Holmgren. Both employ the west coast offense, with subtle wrinkles implemented by each coach. While they might not be the exact same system, they are similar.

Sidenote: Nearly all west coast offense coaches prefer a mobile veteran QB. It wasn't exactly a surprise that Gruden went after Garcia. He has a skill set similar to Gannon.

They run a very similar offense. Makes perfect sense.
 This is the correct answer. Gruden used to be the OC for Philadelphia and is very well versed in the Eagles' version of the west coast offense; however it should be noted that he also has been know to deviate from it and pound the ball with a strong ground game(The 2000 Oakland Raiders lead the league in rushing with 2,470 yards while he was head coach there).
