Jennings not expected to play week2? (1 Viewer)

From what I have read...sounds like Jennings is missing his second week. If he does I figure Jones is a guaranteed start, but I have been hearing more and more noise about Martin. Any chance that Martin overtakes Jones? I dont believe he will myself.

GB homers keep us posted on Jennings... thanks.

Jennings is not expected to play for the Packers on Sunday against the New York Giants due to a hamstring strain, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Injury list: With wide receivers Greg Jennings (hamstring) and Carlyle Holiday (knee) out Friday and not expected to play, the Packers are considering activating wide receiver Chris Francies from the practice squad. If they don't, coach Mike McCarthy remained confident about beating the Giants with three wide receivers and two tight ends.

Except from PackerNews.com

Though it seems a long shot running back Vernand Morency or receiver Greg Jennings will play Sunday against the Giants, the Packers listed both as questionable on today's injury report -- a designation that means each has a 50-50 chance for playing.

The Green Bay Packers' struggling offense probably will be without running back Vernand Morency and wide receiver Greg Jennings for a second straight game.

Neither practiced today, and coach Mike McCarthy doesn't sound optimistic they'll be available for Sunday's game at the New York Giants

sounds unlikely to me.

This is silly, Its Jones. Week #1 EIGHT TARGETS!

Plus Favre missed him on a TD pass down the sideline last week.

If that one pass would have connected, it would have made Jones the hottest FA pickup besides Derrick Ward.

IMO

:lmao: J.Jones is the clear #2 with Jennings out. No one in their right mind would play Martin over him.As you stated, if Favre doesn't miss Jones when he was wide open on the long pass everyone is salvating over J.Jones 70+ yards+TD last weekend.

I agree....but that only answers the 2nd part... The first step is...IS Jennings going to play?

Ruvell had 5 targets. With only 3 WRs suiting up this week and each also knowing Driver's spot in the O, it's entirely possible the targets are close. Plus Ruvell is a better redzone target at 6-5 with very good "ups". Oh I prefer Jones but geesh it's not that huge a difference.

he isn't on the ww in any league I'm in

The talent isn't close so I would bet the targets aren't either. If you watched them both play you'd know Jones is a potential stud.

when did I say he wasn't a potential stud?

Packers are hurting really really bad. They may only have Bubba for a TE and couldn't go into the game with 3 WRs so they put WR Holiday on IR and brought in a practice squad WR (Frances). I assume that they are praying for K. Robinson to get cleared but I don't think he's available till October.

There are 8 players on IR and a bunch of them who can't even get on the field (Morency, Jennings, Montgomery, Rouse, etc). It a team of walking wounded!!

If Driver or Franks goes down its going to be bad, very bad.

Ruvel or Jones?mmmm - neither?
Well against the Giants...someone is getting big numbers.
As a Packer Fan, I hope so. But lets look at who that might beThe Pack has one, repeat one legitimate top quality NFL player in the WR/TE/RB slot who is starting.- thats Donald DriverSo, Farve to Driver - I would consider starting both of them.Packer D - yes, I will be starting them.Crosby - sure, I would start himAt RB you have the starter in Houston (Ahman Green) the player they were counting on replacing him out (Morency) , the back up cant block the blitz (BJ), his back up a fat boy who missed 90% of camp (Wynn). Not a fan of those optionsWR - Driver yes, #2 jennings out (plus he is the only long ball threat), Rookie WR who doesnt know the routes yet (jones), journeyman wr who knows the plays but doesnt have great hands(martin) and then they have players who were on THE PRACTICE SQUAD (sounds like a winning situation) untill Thursday of this weekTE - The Best TE plays for Miami, the best TE actually on the team hurt is knee, but should play (Lee), then you have Bubba who is not anywhere near the player he wasThe Pack has the chance to put up points. This may be one of thier best opportunities to do so, and I will be cheering for it. But they don't have alot of fire power.

One thing to keep in mind is that Jennings went down late last week and Jones didn't get to practice much with Favre last week.

You said Martin and Jones are close, but they aren't in talent.

Jones might find his way on the field for me over Brandon Marshall. Favre might throw more than Denver this week with questionable running game.

Funny...thats the same decision that I have too. I like the Marshall matchup with Okland (detroit killed them). But Favre has to wing that ball today and I bet Jones sees it with Driver getting double teamed. So far I am still assuming that Jennings is out? Havent heard anything different.

I said "it's entirely possible the targets are close" as they only have 3 WRs suiting up and now (after post )even TE injury woes.

I'm thinking of starting James Jones over Cotchery. I'm that confident in him this week. Giants D is horrible...
i'm trying to make the same decision with Coles vs Jones....still don't know if pennington will start..guess i need to check the pennington thread.

Paul Charchian just reported on the radio on a fantasy segment that the Pack are only keeping 3 WRs active ths week... of course Jennings isn't one of them.
