Jennings vs Driver (1 Viewer)

Based on what I saw last night, they're pretty close in value. Am I wrong?

Jennings had 5 catches for 91 yards on 5 targets, with receptions of 56, 17, 14, 5 and -1, but no targets in the second half.

Driver had 4 catches for 38 yards on 5 targets, with receptions of 25, 5, 2 and 6...BUT had a 68-yard TD called back on a lame linemand downfield penalty. He seemed to show good speed on the play, and was targeted in the 2nd half. I think variance is to blame for Driver's 2 TDs last year (see Jones, Thomas in 2007)

I just don't see a whole lot of difference between them, especially in PPR.

Agreed. I targeted Driver as much as possible in redrafts because I saw them pretty equally. Likewise, I moved or tried to sell high on Jennings, thinking he's been a little overvalued. I wasn't always successful moving Jennings, so maybe he wasn't overvalued. Both are good and the offense looks solid again.

Last night my opponent had Jennings, I had Driver with a 10 pt lead going into the game. Figured they are even, I could hold him off..... At the end of the game, we were tied in pts for the week!! Jennings scored exactly 10 more than Driver.. I lost on tiebreak due to a rule we have. That td called back killed me!! That being said, Driver looked good. In the long run, I agree- very equal and I drafted Driver 3 rnds later than Jennings so the value is there. That darn lineman though... if I miss the playoffs by 1 game!!

I still think Jennings is the one to own... His targets and reception totals should increase this season and he has more big play potential than Driver. I see Jennings catching 80+ balls this season, and with his YAC and ability to stretch the field, that should lead to a lot of yards and 8+ TDs.

Jennings is the better player but the difference between him and Driver fantasy wise is far less than the ADP differential.

I'm a huge Driver fan. His is just a great story. A heck of a football player and a great person from all accounts. However, Jennings will far outdistance Driver's numbers. Jennings runs great WC offense routes and catches the long ones to boot. Driver hasn't been a factor in the red zone for some time now. Jennings gets open in tight spaces. He's one of the best in the league at creating a throwing zone simply by getting great breaks off the LOS. That's bread and butter in the WCO. That play that was called back is distorting reality. Some of you are counting that one in your minds. And that's fine cause if there's no penalty there Driver puts up big numbers. However Driver's role is more the underneath tough yardage stuff. And he's not a big enough target to be a factor near the endzone. Jennings, Jones, and Martin are all more attractive options for the play-caller in the redzone. Not to mention Driver made a living off of capitalizing on Favre's improv. Heck the play that was called back appears to have been a 2-man improv that Rodgers learned from Favre.

I will always be a huge Driver fan but I accept the fact that his number one role will be to do the dirty work between the 20's. And don't sleep on James Jones. That kid has a lot of Sterling Sharpe in him. That will cut into Driver's touches as well.

When the game is closer in the 2nd half Jennings will get targeted a lot more then he did last night. The Pack were trying to control the clock in the 2nd half and Driver is a better possession receiver so he was used more in that scenario.

They should both be solid, but i do think Jennings is more valuable. Although at their draft positions Driver was probably better value.

Anyone else think that Driver seems to be undervalued already? Every ranking I see has Jennings way ahead or far more valuable. If you look at their targets, they're basically the same, and he even has a one more redzone target. I'm thinking of making a run at him in my league the guy that has him has kept on the bench weeks 1 and 2 and has him on the bench this week.

Definitely undervalued, although I do think you'll start to see Jennings separate himself. He is a great red zone target and his looks down there will come. And while their overall targets may be equal, I've little doubt that Jennings will do far more with his than Driver will.

Those who saw video of James Jones' TD catch in the DET game would argue that the pass may have actually been intended for Jennings.

Both these guys will have value each year. Not they are as good but this goes back when Jerry Rice and John Taylor both had value when they played for the 49ers.

Packers are going to use their WRs to set up the running game and teams will try and force Rodgers into mistakes by taking away the run game also.

Driver is a weapon in the red zone, he has been targeted the last two years on slant routes as much as anyone. Sometimes this has been to predictable, and caused the team problems.

According to Rodgers, it was intended for Jennings.

Jennings wins in leagues that give bonuses for TD based on length.

Jennings has the speed to turn more catches into TD's

Jennings gets more long ball passes

= Jennings is the one to have......except based on ADP. Drivers lower ADP makes him a great draft pick - he will most likely exceed his ADP, while I expect Jennings to only equal it.
