With no MJD in town, Jennings is going to be the man in week 1 against Minesota. My question is whether he is worth a start in week 1.

The Vike defesnse used to be feared as one of the best run defenses around. However, I admit that I don't know if it is still so stout.

Is Jennings worth a shot as a rb 2 in week 1? Thanks.

Their d isn't as stout, but it depends on who else you have at RB. If u have Jennings u probably want to get something out of him.

This would be a great question for the Assistant Coach Forum.

My post wasn't intended as a WDIS thread. It was intended to incite discussion on Jenings now that MJD has essentially been ruled out for week 1. When I drafted him, that wasn't a certainty and I have another rb I was intending to start in the #2 rb slot this week. Things change and I was simply loking for some insight as to how people feel about Jennings in week 1, and quite honestly, moving forward as MJD sits out.

I agree. It's a great question. Just the tone of the post and the 'thanks' at the end made it feel like a WDIS thread. My apologies.

No worries. My pleasant demeanor confuses many people, you know, as a Raiders fan! :banned:

I ended up drafting Jennings late (pick 100+, didn't get MJD as he went in the mid 2nd) in a redraft last year. I did this as the guy I did draft as we can start 3 RBs and I ended up landing Ryan Mathews as my RB#3 at pick #39. It's odd to think of a "handcuff" being on a different team, but drafting Mathews in the 3rd or 4th if you're lucky, and then landing Jennings very late could make for a great combo that could result in RB#2 production.

I can't speak to the Vikings D right now (I know there have been many changes). I do think the Jaguars have a D that should be good enough to keep the game close. If that plays out as expected, there is no reason Jennings won't be good for 20ish touches. What he does with those is obviously your question, but I tend to like backs that get that kind of workload in general. As a RB2 (and maybe even a RB1 for teams that waited on RBs this year), he will likely be in many lineups this week and you shouldn't second guess yourself if you think he's the right play.
