12/3/2007Q: Are you going to try to get Jerious Norwood some more carries?

A: “We have to get Jerious touches and there is no question about it. When you watch the video you see that he is the most explosive player out there for us. His speed shows up and he makes big plays whether it’s catching the ball or running the ball. It’s a situation where we have to get him more touches one way or another.”

Petrino needs to coach cheerleading. That's all he's good for. Wait he just needs to stop coaching period and go work for Burger King.

Funniest thing is that Crumpler was complaining how the veterans were not getting a fair shake and it seemed like Petrino only wanted to play the young guys.

I don't think Petrino sees the TE as an important part of the passing game, so that caused problems.Fact is, Dunn and Brooking are team captains, and both have been among the worst players on the field, yet they remain the starters.

If he's ever going to start Norwood, this will be the week to do it.

I've said that five times this season. This time won't be right either.

Here we go again.

"After Jerious Norwood generated 115 yards of offense in Week 13, Falcons coach Bobby Petrino said "we have to get him more touches one way or the other."

"He makes big plays, whether it's catching the ball or running the ball," added Petrino who apparently took about 13 more weeks than fantasy nation to figure this out. Petrino has said this before, but Norwood owners can expect more than ten touches against the Saints, making him a decent flex option in deeper leagues this week.

Why don't the Atlanta sports writers call him out on this?
Because there are so many issues going on - QB being the least of them - that the RB issue is really only most relevant to us FBGs.It's a bit early to speculate, but what are the thoughts about who will tote the rock next year?

I've got him stashed on my bench too, but he won't see the field this week.

R.Grant vs. Oakland

K.Smith vs. Denver

J.Addai vs. Balt.

F.Gore vs. Minn

K.Jones vs. Dallas

I might be crazy, but at this point my two starters are Grant/K.Smith.

And before people start asking, I got Gore from the R.Brown owner for C.Benson & R.Bush.

I didn't realize Norwood started the game last week. Read below. Maybe Petrino is finally going to see what he can do as a starter? Norwood is in my flex in week 14 for the playoffs. I'm rolling the dice.

Falcons face more changes following third straight loss

By CHARLES ODUM, AP Sports Writer

..."Petrino didn't announce his starting quarterback on Monday but indicated he might have news later in the week.

"No, because the players aren't here today," Petrino said. "I'd like to visit with the players before we do anything."

Petrino made other notable lineup changes against the Rams. Jerious Norwood made his first start of the season at running back and led the team with eight carries for 94 yards.

Petrino also benched right guard Kynan Forney, who was inactive, in favor of D'Anthony Batiste. On defense, nickel safety Jimmy Williams lost his job to Antoine Harris.

Other starting jobs could be on the line the last four weeks of the season.

"We are all playing for our future and we will see what happens," tight end Alge Crumpler said Sunday. "This organization is going to find out what works. Whatever that formula is, so be it. We are going to be successful at some point. Right now, we are just having a bad year."

Norwood is averaging 6.4 yards per carry but hasn't had as many as 10 carries in a game. He has 442 yards rushing on only 69 carries. Former starter Warrick Dunn has 190 carries for 600 yards, for 3.2 yards per carry.

Many observers expected Norwood, a second-year back who also averaged 6.4 yards per carry as a rookie, to assume a lead role at the start of the season. Now it appears his time has come.

"We have to get Jerious touches, there's no question," Petrino said. "When you watch the video he's the most explosive player for us. His speed shows up. He makes big plays whether it's catching the ball or running the ball. It is a situation where we have to get him more touches one way or the other."

He technically did but Dunn still got more carries. For what it's worth, Norwood's career high for rushing attempts in a game is 13. That came last season. The opponent? The Saints.

I'm actually thinking of starting Norwood and leaving Edge & KJ on the bench this first week of our (PPR) playoffs.

GULP

:)

I'm doing the same, but am thinking of starting him over Lendale White and DeAngelo Williams, so not quite as much pressure for me.
