Wouldn't you rather have Porter than BMW? Shouldn't the Raiders be getting the pick. He has had success in the NFL, unlike BMW.....Otherwise, I think it's kind of trash for trash.
I heard yesterday that the Lions were interested in Porter and he afforded them the opportunity to clear out some dead weight(Rogers I assume) but then the asking price was way more than they expected. Lions were turned off and uninterested in Porter now.
It was mentioned during one of the games.
Immediately I thought how dopey to not ask what the asking price was right away in discussions.
Still, Rogers was thought of as this talent w/ poor attitude+ all that. I wonder if him NOT landing anywhere affects BMW's value at all. Just in the sense that would teams wonder if he's similar or just figure the collarbone injury and two separate players/people etc?
The alternatives are to cut them outright or keep malcontents around the team, neither are good options. It seems to me that the trade would give them both a change of scenery and might help them.
Word out of Oakland was they wanted two first-rounders for Porter, and since then PFW reported that they basically weren't that interested in trading him. It may be a personal thing, or it may be that they hope to rehabilitate him still. I don't know, but right now, they have problems on the O-line that are probably crowding out eeverything else.
Porter is not crappy and he has a right to be a malcontent. In fact I thank him for helping me notice how crappy the Raider situation was when he said the Raiders had a chance to bring in Martz but instead brought in a guy running a B&B. The Raiders have the worst offense I've ever seen in the NFL and they are not less talented than last year. It's the worst job of coaching an offense I've ever seen in the NFL and Porter was dead on right about it.

Sep 17 Ann Killion, of the San Jose Mercury News, reports Oakland Raiders SS Jarrod Cooper is wondering why WR Jerry Porter, one of the more talented players on the team, is on the sidelines instead of the field. "Football is not personal. I looked at him on the sideline and wondered, `Why are you sitting there?' You need to put him on the field and let him do his job. We haven't scored one touchdown. That's the simple fact."
DL Warren Sapp added, "Ray Charles can see that he can play, but I can't worry about what I don't have."

That's probably the case for Mike Williams who got a bigger bonus and has never proven he can play in the NFL and won't draw much in a trade. Not so for Porter who got a few mill less bonus and has at least proven he can be a pretty good NFL WR. The Raiders would be foolish to not get something back for Porter if they are not going to play him.

I gave the Lions the pick because BMW was a first round pick and is younger than Porter, who was a second round pick.Of course, I'm not a GM and I didn't stay at a Super 8 last night either...
Not a chance on either end. I think Oakland is content to let him sit on the bench the rest of the year while he pouts. BMW might go down as one of the biggest busts ever. I was surprised they kept him going into the season. Perhaps Martz is going to try really hard to work on him, and if he doesn't work out, release him after this year and be rid of him...

I don't agree with keeping unhappy players around just to avoid a cap hit. It's no wonder the Lions and Raiders have the records they have. The 49ers got rid of all the players who didn't want to be there and they've turned that team around.
Z-Dog's the guru of BS "one liners". It's a dead giveaway when a poster has sarcasm as a priority. Two 1st rounders for this dude???? What three way trade would even offer 1 much less 2 #1 picks for Porter? If a team goes after Porter it will be with a 3rd rd pick and a coach willing to deal with a punk!

I have read that Al Davis has quietly backed off of his asking price. He's now looking for a single first rounder, and he might wind up giving away Porter for even less than that. Can't remember where I read it, so no link, but I definitely remember reading it within the last week.
