Jerry Porter (1 Viewer)

They're not saying, we'll found out tomorrow when they announce the inactives and JP will in all likelyhood be on them...

searching for joey porter doesn't seem to help, just an FYI :bag:

I heard part of the agreement to come back is that he has to address the coach as Mr.Geen instead of his Mr. Yellow ..and he has to stay out of his parking space on game days. :)

Not really..last I heard he came back from Florida on Wedesday and practiced with the scout team then later in the afternoon did indeed practice with the first string offense..thats all I heard so far! ;)

Good old Moss (part of Randy's Rant):

"Man, I have one thing to say about that situation. If Porter is coming back to the team to play, I think that the team would be excited to have him play, and not just myself. I said the team would be excited. But if so and so or whoever is bringing Porter back from a two-game suspension so whatever or whatever or whatever, I don't care about that."

Jerry Porter is starting tomorrow opposite Randy Moss.
Where's that coming from? He's not even on the Raiders depth chart currently:Raiders Web Site Depth Chart
Raiders | J. Porter expected to start Week 8 Published Sun Oct 29 12:29:00 a.m. ET 2006

(KFFL) Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers, reports Oakland Raiders WR Jerry Porter is expected to start the Week 8 game opposite WR Randy Moss, according to a source who has watched Raiders' practices this week. The source claims Porter has been running with the first team since Thursday, Oct. 26.

Thanks Wannabee for the KFFL link.

I posted in the other thread, too this thought: I think there's quite a leap being made from "practicing with the first team" to being in the starting lineup.

I agree. I thought he would be in the doghouse upon reinstatement. But, the more I thought about it, the more I wondered why Shell was being so coy here:Raiders | Porter's Week 8 status unknown

Published Fri Oct 27 10:55:00 a.m. ET 2006

(KFFL) Bill Soliday, of MediaNews, reports Oakland Raiders head coach Art Shell would not comment whether WR Jerry Porter will be activated for the team's Week 8 game. Porter worked with the first-team offense and scout team during practice Thursday, Oct. 26.

If he was still in the doghouse, it would be known. But, starting Porter and trying to surprise the Steelers makes sense to me given the way Shell is handling it.

Yeah, I guess Shell could be playing mind-games with the Steelers and this would definitely be a surprise. But the way I look at it, Shell has chosen to have Porter inactive every game so far. He got so fed up with him two weeks ago that he suspended him for four games. And the only reason that was shortened is because the NFLPA intervened. So it would seem to be like the Shell move would be to keep him inactive for at least the next two games just to prove whatever point he was trying to make by suspending him for four games.

It's not like he didn't want him gone for this game anyway, and it's not like he's afraid to have him inactive. So I just think it would indeed be shocking for Porter to all of a sudden be activated AND in the starting lineup. But like you said, maybe it's all a ploy to surprise the Steelers. I see Corkran is reporting on the inside source too, so there's a chance there's something to this, but it's just so illogical. Which I guess should be my first clue that it will probably happen since this is the Raiders we're talking about...
