It's never been "official" but once he pulled out of the Skins job it was assumed. The Rooney Rule can be "circumvented" by language in a coach's contract naming him coach after the current one is gone.

This makes me think that they will make a serious offer for Trufant and try not to franchise him (especially since then next year they'll have Tru, Tatupu and Hill(?) all as FAs). Mora likes him as his position coach and his play has moved up to ProBowl level. Mora will be involved in the offseason personnel decisions and Holmgren won't much at all.

As a seahawks fan I can not be more excited! I have been hoping for this since they signed him as the DB coach.

I know there are worse options out there, but why exactly? I don't view him as a prime head coaching candidate, and I wasn't impressed with the decline of his Falcons teams over the course of his tenure.

The problem is that in 09; the Seahawks will most likely begin the rebuilding process of the offense.... the D should be very good though.

I wasn't terribly impressed by his work in Atlanta, and he's already come out as wanting a college job while having a pro job.

He seems to be unable to adjust to the talent that he has, and that's not a good thing.

Correct. I think they may be able to rebuild and only have one or two down years and Mora will be key to that.

Mark me down for Mora joining the ranks of Bruce Coslet, Wade Phillips, Dom Capers, etc. as a guy who will enjoy a long Head Coaching career in the NFL without ever accomplishing much.
