Jimmy Clausen (1 Viewer)

I'm late to this thread on Jimmy Clausen.Let me flat out state that Clausen overtakes Moore by midseason and doesn't look back. He's a natural on the field, and his character concerns are more in the vein of a Phillip Rivers than a Ryan Leaf type personality. He will excel and I think will have a better rookie year than Sam Bradford after all the stats are piled up.Some experts have responded to my Clausen optimism with :football: But if you got a Clausen bandwagon, please let me on it. He's going to be good. Real good.
What's your opnion of Matt Moore?

Clausen is in the best situation to succeed of any of the young QB's from this draft class and perhaps of the last few draft classes. Clausen sliding in the draft will ease the pressure of having to perform at a high level right away (although he might be able to be good from the start).

I think this kid has all the ability in the world but needs to be careful with having to much confidence. Obvioulsy confidence is a huge thing for an NFL qb, but he needs to be careful he does not cross that line.

Clausen will get his chance as early as 2011, but if Moore falters he will get his chance this year. He is on a good team with great RB's which will help take the pressure off of him.

Even if Moore happens to put up some very nice numbers and hold off Clausen off for the time being, I think Clausen will be too good to keep off the field in the future. Good young QB's with franchise potential and who are showing good in practices will force veterans out the door and get their chance. Not that I think Moore will ever be half as good as brees or that Clausen is a lock to be as good as Rivers, but Brees was forced out the door in favor of Rivers. Palmer forced Kitna out the door in Cincy, Romo and Brady forced Bledsoe out the door.

I think Clausen is for real and people should pay the price now, even if they think it is over paying because in due time it will be to difficult to pay his actua price once he becomes a starter.

I'm a huge Clausen fan. Big ND fan in general. The mention of Clausen being closer to Rivers than Leaf, in terms of personality, rings pretty true to me on a couple of levels. I think you might see a Rivers/Brees dynamic like they had in San Diego between Moore and Clausen. See, I'm also a big fan of Moore. Grabbed him in a very deep dynasty league before the start of the 2009 season because I saw Delhomme dropping.

I am by no means saying Moore is or will become Drew Brees. But I think he keeps Clausen off the field this year by his play alone and the fact that Clausen didn't sign the big contract. They can let him hold the clipboard and learn while getting nice production out of Moore. Heck, you might even see this paradigm go into next season and Moore dealt after that. I'm not saying to go to Vegas and bet on that, but saying it could happen.
