Jimmy Gobble (1 Viewer)

Finless

In 2008 Gobble pitched through severe back pain and ended up on the DL with a strained back. He also almost lost his toe to an infection from a cactus thorn. Well, HE'S BACK FOR 2009.

Did you know:

2007 - Gobble sported a 3.00 era and a 4-1 record through a staggering 74 relief appearances.

2006 - for every 3 batters "Gobs" walked, he fanned 8

Don't be surprised to see Gobble rebound well in 2009. If things fall into place you might find yourself with a nice late round saves vulture. Jimmy has the potential to take over a game in the late innings. Don't sleep on this southpaw.

sleeper? more like comatose

looking for a save from Gobble? hoping for an odd lefty situation because he is behind Soria, Juan Cruz, and Farnsworth and that is IF he makes the club

Plus he plays for the Royals so that means he's good, for what, 0 wins.

I agree...

...with finless. My insider with the Royals brass tells me J Gobbs put on 50 pounds of muscle and he is propelling himself up cheat sheets all over America. Adjust yours accordingly.

If middle relievers had any value in fantasy baseball, i might just put Gobble in the 5th tier now that i know Fin thinks he has what it takes.

News: The Royals requested unconditional release waivers on LHP Jimmy Gobble and signed RHP Anthony Lerew to a minor league contract with an invitation to major league spring training.

Analysis: Gobble is nothing more than organizational depth at this point in his career. Ignore him in all Fantasy leagues right now.

Rangers signed LHP Jimmy Gobble to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Texas already has lefties C.J. Wilson and Eddie Guardado for the pen, so Gobble, who was cut by the Royals this week after posting an 8.81 ERA in 31 2/3 innings last season, will probably head to Triple-A for the start of the season.

I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of Jimmy Gobble.

Arlington is not a friendly park for hitters.Avoid at all costs.

Worth a late round flyer.

White Sox signed LHP Jimmy Gobble to a minor league contract.Gobble gave up three runs and 10 hits in six innings for the Royals and Rangers this spring. He'll be part of Triple-A Charlotte's bullpen.
:kicksrock:

Gobble will have a hard time surpassing the record of Johnnie LeMaster. In 1985 Johnnie Disaster appeared for three teams (Giants, Pirates & Indians), each of whom ended up losing 100 games that season. LeMaster did his best to contribute with a .128/.180/.160 line (negative OPS+) in 103 PAs.

He seemed to pick things up when he landed at Pittsburgh, going .155/.222/.207 with 1 HR. He also became a greater asset on the bases with 1 steal there, too.In all seriousness, that guy sucked. Even Joey Gathright gets an extra-base hit occasionally.

:bag:
If the Rangers cut him, well....that's not good.
Don't worry, he'll be up when Ozzie Guillen decides that he hates Mike MacDougal again.
Let's hope Ozzie figures this out very early this year. MacDougal is just brutal.

:(

White Sox designated LHP Jimmy Gobble for assignment.

The White Sox needed to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for newly acquired reliever Tony Pena. With a 7.50 ERA and a 1.75 WHIP in 12 innings this season for Chicago, Gobble was the clear choice.

What are you thinking here, Fin? I have the #5 WW spot in my Ex Jock Turned TV Personality League. Is he worth a flier?

:goodposting: Good chance this guy shows up in the independent league and is a #4 starter there. Could be a sneaky move to add him to your IL waiver wire list.
