a little while ago he was probably gonna go top 10, but lately many lists don't even have him as the top cb (passed by guys like hill, crom, joseph) I am curious as to why?

If I'm not mistaken I think his numbers weren't all that appealing. Possibly character issues as well?

I've been wondering the same thing recently as some mocks have him available when the Jags pick at 28. That would have seemed impossible a month ago. The only thing I've heard is that he comes off as overly cocky in interveiws which worries some teams and that he's a bit of a tweener CB/FS. I do know that other DBs have been improving their draft stock it may be pushing Williams down the board in response. Two injured players, Allen and Cromartie seem to be convincing teams that they'll be fine and regaining their previous value. Richard Marshall is vaulting up some draft boards, Jenning, Joseph and Tye Hill all have teams that are drinking their kool aid. Since the draft is deep with DBs some teams may decide to pass on DB in rd 1 and get someone like David Pittman later.

I'm just guessing, but I have also noticed Jimmy Williams falling and can't find a solid reason why.

I remember reading on here somewhere that he had some character issues.

I thought his numbers were good at the combine & workouts?? could be wrong

There are some people that are now ranking Huff as the #1 CB, as opposed to the #1 S.

Some of Williams' pro day numbers weren't that hot (apparently he only registered a 32" vert., which is fairly pathetic for a DB).

I've heard a bunch of hearsay regarding character issues, but have yet to see anything "concrete" (it's possible I missed something, so if anyone has a link on this that'd be great).

Combine all that with some other CBs (Hill/Cromartie) having strong workouts/interviews and Williams has slipped just a little. Most rankings still have him as a top 3 CB, though.

the biggest reason is character issues...he hasnt got in trouble with the law or anything, but i heard on the radio that scouts are calling him almost bipolar in his attitude and mood changes...

This is what I heard too! They stated that several scouts said his lackadaisical attitude was bothersome. Basically, he had too many ?'s to have that much $$$ invested in him.

yeah, i think i heard it on the HERD yesterday...

part of attraction before was that he was CB that coud play safety... some scouts have suggested that his change of direction drills were not as good as advertised, & he may have to play safety... where he could probably be very good if he doesn't turn into a head case... but all except for elite safeties (huff is elite safety with elite CB potential), are generally not as coveted as elite CB prospects... some excellent safety prospects can be found in second round & later (jets found starters coleman & rhodes in fifth round of 2004 & '05 drafts)...

As far as his safety skills, I've read that he might not have good "brains" for the position. I.E. He plays undisciplined. If you are looking for a good FS you're looking at fundamentals such as coverage schemes, tackilng angles, playing off the ball. PFW was very down on him for this in particular (although they had him highly rated). Said he was a bit of a hotdog on the field. A corner might be able to get away with it more but a FS is the last line of defense and you want a guy who's not going to get the ball thrown over his head and someone who is going to be reliable fundamentally in run support.
