Joe Jurevicius (1 Viewer)

Sep 18 Scott Petrak, of the Medina Gazette, reports Cleveland Browns WR Joe Jurevicius (ribs) has made progress in his recovery from an injury to his ribs will be re-evaluated later in the week. He will likely be listed as doubtful for the Week 3 game.
Any Cleveland homers care to shed some light on this whole situation? He's probably on a lot of league waiver wires since he was suppose to miss 4-6 weeks but it looks like he might play sooner then expected.Does he have any value once he returns? And how soon until he returns?

I'd be shocked if he plays from what it sounds like.

As for his future fantasy prospects, I'd say they're very limited unless Edwards goes down. Braylon and Winslow appear to be the clear cut options in the passing game.

I would see Joe as a possession guy, a 3rd down machine, but very little in the way of TDs. Unless someone goes down of course. Only reason he got 10 last year was because of the DJax injury. I think he'll perofrm when healty the same way ENgram does in Seattle. Invaluable to the NFL team to move the chains, but pedestrian numbers to FFers since he's not a deep threat and they have a strong TE for RZ looks.

Don't you think that the fact the JJ is the only CLE reciever with more than 16 games under his belt provides him a little added value? This is the primary reason he was brought in to the team, and I assure you the coaching staff will use him.

JJ confirmed yesterday he actually does have a cracked rib. The team has never officially acknowledged this though.

i heard that on the radio too. wtf? this whole thing has been weird.remember though, a hairline fracture is a lot different than an actual broken rib, so he could concivably play soon.

I've got to think that he's third in line for receptions on that team behind Winslow and Edwards.

When he plays. We don't even know that yet.
I was just thinking maybe we are missing the point on this thing. Let's say JJ comes back. The running game still blows, but there are three talented receiving options. Anyone else think that Frye can take even a further step up? Hell, he's #7 in our league right now (probably yours too).

I think Jurevicius's presence will help the entire offense. He is a great possession guy & will extend drives with big 3rd down grabs. He will be #3 in the pecking order &, despite his size, probably still #3 in red zone looks. Edwards & Winslow are just better players. I doubt JJ has much fantasy value, but he definitely helps the Browns O improve.

I cut JJ for Winslow after the injury, and I'm happy w/ the move.

i agree that when JJ returns, he will help the offense. Northcutt and Cribbs aren't getting it done as the #2.

much to everyone's suprise, Frye is a viable fantasy QB. however, he is a risky play, as there is no concievable way he continues to average a rushing TD per game. BUT, when JJ comes back, (if he's effective) Frye may become a bit more stable with that #2 WR to throw to.

congrats to those who picked him up late, he looks like a solid #2 fantasy QB.

JJ is good for the Browns, but it may be a stretch to have him on your fantasy team this year. KW2 will get too many looks himself. If Frye saw HUGE growth this year then maybe JJ could be an option in a big league, but unless Braylon or KW2 got hurt, he's probably not gonna do a lot for most teams.

One disclaimer, JJ is 6' 5" if I'm not mistaken, once teams start focusing on KW2 in the red zone, he may see some looks there.

Just looking for more thoughts and opinion on this guy...

Northcutt is currently getting about 6 targets and 3 receptions (~30 yds) each week as the #2. Does everyone see Jurevicius basically getting that same type of role, or would you project him having a larger role than northcutt currently has?

Definitely larger. Northcutt sucks. Jurevicius should be the possession WR and a good redzone option.

Not all of Northcutt's targets will go to JJ. Northcutt will still be used as a WR3. Unlike last year with his crazy number of TD's, JJ is nothing more than a bye week filler this time around.

 <cough>Dennis Northcutt</cough>
