John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (1 Viewer)

For me, it was better than 2, but not as good as 1.  The first installment had emotional investment. This one was a bullet and blood ballet. Perhaps one of the best ever made, but I missed the emotional investment of just hating the hell out of Theon.
Oh ####. That's WAS Theon. Lol

I was very surprised when the movie ended. I know its been slated for a fourth one but I still thought there would be a definitive ending. When credits started rolling I was WTFing.

Did anyone stay for after credits stuff? Was there any?

I get that this is not a plot driven film. But I was still totally confused by the fact that John went through all the trouble of finding the main guy and pledging once again to serve, only to immediately decide not to serve.

Raised a plot issue/question.  Put it in spoiler tags just in case.

I tend to agree, but I think they were trying to peg his whole motivation on living to remember his dead wife, but Winston was able to convince him that he was going to die eventually no matter what, so he might as well die not being a pawn of the High Table.  Of course then Winston went ahead and pledged fealty and shot John so the whole sequence was kind of stupid.

This movie had some of the most creative and fun action sequences I have ever seen.

A few favorite moments:

- The knife throwing scene was unbelievably entertaining and hilarious.

- The horse kicks, also really funny

- The fight against the 7 foot dude in the library

- The Iron Chef guy being a John Wick fanboy

Are spoiler tags necessary?

Anyways:

I had problems with this scene as well. My biggest issue - why was this guy casted as "The Elder"? He's younger than Keanu for cripes sake!!

When they mentioned "The Elder" who is higher than the high table, I was hoping for some Matrix Architect type scene and actor. This was very underwhelming.

I was kind of meh on this one. Felt like the plot was just kind of cheesy.

Kind of watered down all the stuff that made the first two cool.

Yeah, that whole sequence really fell flat.  They built up his whole quest through the desert where he almost died, and then he meets the extremely underwhelming big kahuna, pledges fealty then immediately retracts.  Ultimately, the whole thing seemed pretty pointless.

My wife came home with 1&2 on dvd the other day from the library. We watched them consecutive nights and loved it. Today we went to the biggie screen mat to see 3. I thought 3 was the best- more lol humor, more killings, more dogs and a cat. I felt worn out leaving the theater but was inspired to race home through heavy traffic! Bring on IV!!

I didn't love 3 but cannot wait to see 4
It's fantastic. I'm always skeptical with each movie of a series that's made, but this one was amazing. The cinematography from the fight scene in the house was like nothing I'd ever seen. Insane stuff. Should win a ton of awards for that.
Totally agree the cinematography was "nuts". John Wick makes Neo look like a second rate badass wannabe

I haven't seen 4 yet, but I just want to learn more about this whole world/society. The Continental itself is just interesting to me.
Theres a show coming on just that end of year i beleive

Wow!

But now I have to get freaking Peacock too???

IMO, 4 is way, way better than 2 and 3. The action is is amped up even more, but unlike 3, this one has more plot and and a better story. Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. And the extended call out to The Warriors was sublime. Whoever came up with that idea should get a performance bonus.

It was really good, but I think the first is still the best. I'd rank them 1, 4, 3, 2. As was mentioned, the first one had all the emotional plotlines. 2 and 3 were exercises in how awesome they could make a practical fight scene. This last one had a more coherent plotline with emotional components.

I remember someone in this thread saying Keanu was too old and slowing down and should stop making them. Lol

Just saw it. I thought it was fun. But the sequences were a little too long at times. But I disagree about the story. I am not sure what the point was — what was Wick trying to accomplish? I was hoping for more about that world, but instead we find old friends without any real backstory.
