Joshua Cribbs at qb this week? (1 Viewer)

Dr. Awesome

Good read as always. :lmao: at 49-3.
Yeah, who actually believes Cleveland can get a FG this week?
That made me laugh. Sorry Brownies, it's not your fault.
Actually from what I've been reading, it's starting to sound like there's a really good chance that the guy lining up for most of the snaps at qb for Cleveland will be Cribbs. And IIRC, the Brownies wildcat gave the Steelers some problems last season.
Any Browns homers have any more information on this? Being able to play a qb (even a crappy one) at the wr position (where he is listed) could be absolutely huge. Especially for those of us in return leagues. :goodposting:

I've heard this so many times from Cleveland that it just bounces of my head. They have literally been talking about getting him more involved as a wildcat QB since the beginning of last year. They've been talking about getting him more involved period for three years.

Cribbs is a little banged up as well and is listed as Questionable. I don't see them running him out at QB and letting him take a banging from the #1 Defense in the NFL.

Are Delhomme and Wallace even playing this weekend? They may have to put Cribbs back there at least for a few plays if McCoy is all they have left.

So, even if he's in there for wildcat 10 times, do you really expect anything more than 50 yards (which I think is more than many straight up RBs have gotten against Pitt's D this year). And, let's imagine he passes a few times, do you really expect more than 75 yards? In my (relatively) standard scoring league, the absolute MAX you could expect from him would be 8 points. I guess that's a sleeper in that most people don't expect anything from him, but I'm hoping for bigger upside from a flex play (esp given that the more likely downside is right there at 0).

There's also the possibility he gets some yards receiving (as it's very unlikely he'll line up as qb the whole game). If your league rewards return yardage we could be looking at a top 10 wr for the week.

I was thinking about this too this week, I am really thin at WR, and I think he has just of good of a chance to put up 8 points as Mason does. Colt is in there, and the only way the Browns stay close in this game is with some trickery

Well, he'll definitely get plenty of kick return opportunities. Anyone know how Pitt's kick return coverage is?

They are 13th in PPG allowed. Looks like you have some bad info.

It's an intriguing option, but with Pitts D being so dominant it's hard to imagine starting in him a league that doesn't give you points for return yardage.

I'm intrigued by this.

Over the course of his career, most of Cribbs' numbers have come on the ground against Pittsburgh. Cribbs has a career-high 17 carries for 144 yards in 10 career games against Pittsburgh. He has just two catches for 16 yards in that span. He had two of the best games of his career against Pittsburgh last season, totaling 14 carries for 132 yards and one touchdown. The Browns might ask for Cribbs to work out of the Wildcat a lot against the Steelers to help take some pressure off of rookie QB Colt McCoy, who will likely make his NFL debut in the matchup.

Its hard to say. We are expecting more than the 13 snaps Cribbs took against Pittsburgh when the Browns beat them on a Thursday night in Cleveland. He has seemed to be involved more or at least the play calling has him on the field more. Cribbs always seems to step it up against the Steelers. This week I expect more 'Flash' packages with Cribbs since McCoy is starting. That is pretty much the buzz here on the radio.

I expect after 3 quarters of being beat down by the Steeler D that Cribbs quits even trying ala Chris Johnson in week 2.

I fully expect the Steelers to deliver an epic beat down but I can't ever imagine Cribbs quitting. He seems like a guy who plays with 100% intensity every chance he gets. Then again I don't follow the team and I could be wrong. It's just the impression I get the few times I do watch him.

I'll stand by this one and risk being wrong on Monday. Even if Pitt's O isn't scoring (with Big Ben back, it will be one of the strongest that Cleveland has yet faced), they're D probably will pick up the slack with Colt McCoy in there.

I believe they also signed Ratliff. While not a good QB per se, he is well-versed in their offense, so he is not the "typical" street FA.
