JP Losman: Where does he go? Does he have any value? (1 Viewer)

I just heard Salisbury talking about JP Losman on Football Friday. Just wondering where everyone thought he would end up and if he still has any value?

The places that came to mind for me were:

Chicago- they cant really bring back Grossman can they?

Baltimore- Have needed a QB since they left Cleveland.

Atlanta- Have no decent QB on the roster, can they really have faith in Leftwich?

Miami- could be a nice fresh start for him but it would be hard to trade within the division.

I'm really hoping they don't trade him for a 5th or less. A 3rd I would be really happy with but I doubt they get that. If we get a 4th I wouldn't care either way.

The problem I see is that Losman is actually a decent back up and we have him right now for basically nothing. Edwards has shown some real good stuff, but there's alot we don't know about him. Like how durable will he be in the pros for one.

I kinda hope we keep Losman around for at least this season. I know we won't get anything after this year for him, but imagine if we fall just short of the playoffs and it's because Edwards got hurt and we had no capable back up. Even a 3rd wouldn't make me happy at that point.

Seems like Losman still has some solid value in Buffalo as a back up to Edwards but I am sure Losman is going to want to go somewhere he can fight for the starting job. I think Baltimore is a great place for him. Let him battle Boller and Smith and cut the one who doesnt make it.

I like the idea of Losman and Alex Smith switching places...they could both use a fresh start.

Losman is familiar with the Martz type offense, and would be a nice fit. Alex Smith could get healthy, and look for work in a year.

Alex Smith will not go anywhere and start, bottom line. You need to keep Edwards motivated, and this works out well.

I strongly disagree. Trading JP is getting rid of the best QB on the team - after doing their best to ruin him. The JP saga really #### me off, and is the clearest sign we have gotten on the ridiculous carousel of inferior coaches Ralph has cheaped out on.

This makes sense, but I doubt it's realistic. Baltimore makes good sense, but I have a feeling Salisbury will be wrong here. Unless he's a locker room cancer, it doesn't make sense to trade a backup QB cheap these days. Maybe if they signed a FA, but are there any good FAs that would be willing to sign in Buffalo and backup Edwards?

Sorry, Edwards is a better option than Loserman. However, Loserman could easily start for Baltimore, Atl, Miami or Chi.

I think we try to ge a 3rd, noone bites, and we keep him as a cheap servicable back up.

3rd? What has Losman even shown? Culpepper was traded for a 2nd. Granted, he was injured goods, but he at least showed at some point in his career he could get wins. Losman has been given a couple years now and shown nothing. They had to draft Edwards, who looks like a better QB in the long term. Bills will be lucky to get a 5th round pick for him.... they won't be happy with it and they will keep him.I tell ya, Madden Football has taken away people's ability to think draft pick value through. "I hope we get a 3rd round pick for our QB who really hasn't shown that much." That may work in Madden as 3rd round draft picks can be considered a grade D or lower... (which is about where I'd put Losman, grade D or lower)... but in the real NFL that 3rd round draft pick, first day draft pick, is worth a lot more. Taking a fliar on a QB who will never be a pro-bowl player instead of drafting that LB, DL, OL who could start for your team is just foolish. I'm not saying Losman is awful, I think he's a decent QB who could play well for a team like the Ravens, Bears, Dolphins, Cheifs, even Panthers... but I don't see him as a staple QB that teams would really try to go get. Sure, HOU went after Schaub, and he was a backup his entire career... but that may have worked in his favor. He doesn't have on his resume "Benched in 2007 for a rookie 3rd round pick". He may get his shot next year with another team, but it will be a team that needs a stop-gap QB while they groom their prized rookie. And for that, a team won't give up a 3rd round pick. Maybe a 4th, but most likely a 5

Hey pal, it's what the Bills organization has said a couple times. They are looking for a 3rd in return for Losman. So before you go and say something silly like that again check your facts first. Thanks.Man, first Pasquino, now me?
