Judge my first ever draft from last night! (1 Viewer)

Last night was my first fantasy football draft. I think I did ok, but wanted opinions. It's a 12 team ppr league, and I had the 12th pick. (1qb, 2rb, 2wr, 1flx, 1te, 1dst & 1k). I'll leave this in the order I drafted.

Jordy Nelson, Demarco Murray, Lamar Miller, Damaryius Thomas, Mark Ingram, Allen Robinson, Zach Ertz, Kareem Hunt, Andy Dalton, Jeremy Maclin, Jacquizz Rodgers, Zay Jones, Marvin Jones, Jacksonville & Wil Lutz.

If you have any start/sit suggestions for a new guy I'm all ears!

I felt the pressure at the 3/4 turn and took Miller when I hadn't done it in mocks. Hyde, Mixon and Montgomery were there and I probably would have taken one of them. Hunt in the 8th makes up for it I think.

Very strong draft from the 12-spot IMO.

Weaknesses like any team,  it I like the strengths. Like me, you're hoping Dalton takes a leap forward with more weapons - but QB is your weakness until that's proven the case.

RBs are decent but would have liked to see you handcuff Murray. Irrelevant if he's healthy all year, but he's got some miles on that tread & a capable backup. You scored on Hunt in the 8th. good depth with Ingram & Miller, too.

The 7/8 turn was rock solid with nice value on both Ertz/Hunt. Especially in a post ware-news draft.

Nelson could be a strong WR1. Not a DThomas fan (or any bronco wr) this year and ARob is either gonna be a complete bust or a total steal. So WR you've got a bit of a crap shoot and not a lot of depth.

overall a competitive team, but some significant risk at QB & WR.

Yeah, I there were a few teams I was trying to stay away from their receivers like Cleveland. Denver was one of those to a lesser extent. Time seemed to speed up during my first four picks and my nerves got the best of me. Maybe I'll look at teams low on RB and see if there is a potential trade to strengthen my wr squad.

While it's always good to explore trades, I am also a believer in seeing how your team performs 1st.

dance with the girl you brought.

That way you know if you can compete and don't make a bad deal out of perceived desperation.

i identified a weakness - I didn't say it was terminal. All teams have weaknesses.

If you find the right trade to improve, go do it, but do it from a position of confidence & strength.

People love to target n00bs in deals out of the gate. Don't turn a minor team. weakness into a bad trade. ;)

I was thinking about trying to package D. Thomas and L. Miller for Beckham. The guy that got him has crap for RB, he has Zeke and drafted Ware not knowing about his injury. His only RBs are Mccaffrey and Forte. I don't think I'm giving up a lot to upgrade Thomas. He would get the 15th RB and 16th WR to ride him over til Zeke gets back and replace Beckham. It feels fair for both sides, not sure if he'll go for it. His first two rounds were autodrafted, so i don't know that he loves Beckham.

I have Ingram and Hunt with similar fantasy points as Thomas, and one will be sitting on my bench if I put the other in the flex, but in ppr I would think a WR would be better there, so two similar RB (predicted points) sitting on the bench.

If I were the OBJ owner I'd turn down that trade in a heartbeat. A package of Miller and Hunt might work but trying to offer him Miller as a sole RB even with Thomas probably won't fly.

The other owner will never accept DT and Miller for OBJ.
