an insider who posts on the Lions board - who apparently is friend's with a player and seems to have every scoop before the papers - claims that Julian peterson has been offered a 6 yr/27m contract by the Lions, but the Browns have upped it and Lions are now considering whether they'll beat it.

Anyone else heard anything on this? It would be GREAT signing for the lions....

I saw it on the board as well...if he's healthy, I hope they get him...

That report is a bogun Internet posting, according to a couple of different sources at the Lions board.

:cry: :eek: :excited: would be awesome if the Lions could pull this off.
 
I live IN Cleveland and haven't heard squat to substantiate this claim. In fact, all I've been hearing about is our meeting with McGinest. Media-wise, Peterson isn't even on our radar screen.

okay....phrased that wrong....just lots of rumors INVOLVING cleveland.

Isn't peterson a Poston Bros. client? That could certainly be playing into this....

 
One thing is weird: this "insider" at the Lions board claims he's friends with some lineman with Detroit...okay, fine: but why would Tom Lewand and the Lion front office keep this Lion player in the loop in almost real time--and then have that player spill the bean to every Tom, ****, and Harry in the public in nearly identical real time?

Makes no sense.

It doesn't have to make sense. Even if his story is bogus, the fact remains that "Insider McGoldmine" very rarely is wrong. I don't care where he says he gets his information, as long as he keeps being on point, I'll believe anything he says.That being said, Go Lions.
