i got both too, which do you start, i always start JJ, just cause you cant bench the starter. Barber from here on out???Barber isn't the second coming...he's just better than Julius! (owner of both)
I was lucky today...my opponent had most of his players on early games, I had most late, and was only down by a few points so went conservative and played both today - and won. It is a TD heavy league so I have been starting Barber.i got both too, which do you start, i always start JJ, just cause you cant bench the starter. disagree. they were up 27-3 IIRC, so it was barber in to burn down the clock, not jones.nothing to do with an injury or anything else. IMO this is the role that barber has had all year.JJ looks to be stuck in a 50-50 split with Barber going forward. Considering the fact JJ doesn't get the goal line love. MB is the better play going forward....
I agree. I'm a Barber owner but I don't see things changing. Barber will often get one series where he gets to be the featured back. He got that series today and that was the series in which he scored. If the game had been closer I think Jones would've gotten his usual workload. As a Barber owner, I'm very happy with the game he had today but I wouldn't look at this changing how the Cowboys' backfield shapes up the rest of the way.disagree. they were up 27-3 IIRC, so it was barber in to burn down the clock, not jones.nothing to do with an injury or anything else. heading into today's game, these were their stats:J. Jones: 165 rushes, 3 rec = 168 touchesM. Barber: 59 rushes, 11 rec = 70 touchesyou really expect a 50/50 split going forward even though Jones has gotten 2.4 times as many touches in the 8 games before today?JJ looks to be stuck in a 50-50 split with Barber going forward. exactlyThe Cowboys are best suited to give JJ the majority of carries. He absorbs the brunt of the overall workload, yet is kept fresh by letting MB3 pound it every few series. They should not deviate from this successful game plan.
No, no. That's not how it works in these threads. You aren't supposed to approach the situation objectively. You're supposed to argue for your guy no matter what. Example: 'Barber has looked way better than JJ and Parcell's knows it. JJ will be lucky to see the field going forward. I see a 95/5 split. Barber will be a key component in your (and more importantly my) championship team' See how that works? Now try again.I agree. I'm a Barber owner but I don't see things changing. divisional games are rarely, if ever, easy games, especially on the road.JJ is still the man when the game is close. Barber comes in for mop-up duty. The hard part is figuring out what type of game this Jekyll/Hyde team will put on the field in a given week. It was likely they were going to handle ARI without much trouble, but you would have thought the same last week vs. WAS (which they didn't).
i don't think so. i think they make a great RB2 & RB3 (although i use them as RB1 & RB2 - my receivers are excellent). unless you're sitting a guy like warrick dunn or something, i think they're worthy of playing along side one another. barber gets a TD nearly every week, and Jones is usually good for near 100 yds. they're not a bad play together.so in other words the guys that own them both should hope for an injury?

Very true, but Barber's 7 TDs to Jones' 3 has to be somewhat disconcerting to Jones owners.Aaron Rudnicki said:heading into today's game, these were their stats:J. I'm a Barber owner who would love to see Barber take over the starter. But in my opinion there's no question Jones is the superior talent at RB. But if Parcells feels differently, I certainly wouldn't question him.Doubt it will be a 50-50 thing, but I dont know how anyone watching doesnt see that Barber is the better all around back than Jones at this point.
it is about a 50/50 split when it comes to fantasy pointsAaron Rudnicki said:heading into today's game, these were their stats:J. Jones: 165 rushes, 3 rec = 168 touchesM. Well, in truth, it isnot 50-50 FF split (108 FPs for JJ and 83 for MBIII) as much as it is Barber playing MUCH better on third down and getting as much love as Barber in the red zone - plus, he is MUCH MUCH miore effective inside the 20:Marion Barber III 28 rush 117 yards 4.18 YPC 14 FDs 7 rush TDs 1 target 1 reception 7 yards 54.40 FPsJulius Jones 38 rush 113 yards 2.97 YPC 6 FDs 2 TDs 0 targets 23.30 FPsit is about a 50/50 split when it comes to fantasy pointsheading into today's game, these were their stats:J. Correction in that FBG scoring has them nearly even - 100 versus 93.7Well, in truth, it isnot 50-50 FF split (108 FPs for JJ and 83 for MBIII) as much as it is Barber playing MUCH better on third down and getting as much love as Barber in the red zone - plus, he is MUCH MUCH miore effective inside the 20:Marion Barber III 28 rush 117 yards 4.18 YPC 14 FDs 7 rush TDs 1 target 1 reception 7 yards 54.40 FPsJulius Jones 38 rush 113 yards 2.97 YPC 6 FDs 2 TDs 0 targets 23.30 FPsit is about a 50/50 split when it comes to fantasy pointsheading into today's game, these were their stats:J. BTW, the point of my post = this:If you think the 'boys will have a good offensive day on the ground (and against the Colts they ought to), you play JJ b/c he gets more opps to make yardage plus TDs.If it will be a day of tough yardage on the ground, play MBIII instead - he will have more short yardage and red zone opps than JJ and will have more opportunity to get you a line that looks like 50/1TD.MBIII = more consistent in that he has fewer under 10 FP games and more games between 10 and 15 FPs, but JJ more explosive since he has 3 games over 15 FPs, but MBIII has only 1.If you NEED points this week, plsy MBIII. If you want the possibility of an explosive game, play JJ this week.
I agree with this, Barber is better........against 2nd rate defenses when the game is iced already. (owner of neither, just a clear minded opinion)Barber isn't the second coming...he's just better than Julius! (owner of both)
This is what I'm concerned about...I see a repeat of the DEN/IND game with Peyton exploiting another Williams up and down the field. However, DAL's best chance of winning is to run JJ and MBIII as much as possible and keep IND off the field. Luckily they've been playing down to their recent opponents so DAL might have a chance at keeping this close (with Vanderjagt missing the potential game-tying FG wide right).LordHusker said:Of course, if Indy jumps out ahead by 21 points, which is possible, neither RB will score squat.
If it's a repeat of the Denver-Indy game that bodes very well for the Cowboys' running attack this week. Mike Bell tore the Colts up and Tatum Bell likely would have too if he wasn't hurt. I like both Jones and Barber a lot this week. I think Jones is a very good RB2 and Barber a very good RB3.This is what I'm concerned about...I see a repeat of the DEN/IND game with Peyton exploiting another Williams up and down the field.LordHusker said:Of course, if Indy jumps out ahead by 21 points, which is possible, neither RB will score squat.
