could his career mirror his older brother thomas who overcame the stigma of a poor first few years in the NFL to become a top 10-15 talent at his peak?
i might have asked this last year, too, but nearly on the eve of free agency, i wanted to revisit it as he hasn't been mentioned much in this year's free agent class (which has been criticized for its lack of impact skill position players that will actually make it to free agency... i'm guessing randy moss is locked up by NE)...
michael turner is rightfully credited as best prospect for starter job in this crop, & foster has been in news after leaving panthers...
there are a few teams out there that need RBs, but this could be a deep ROOKIE RB class, so that could definitely impact jones already likely slim chance of landing a starting job... seemingly there are some places like HOU where he could be an upgrade (if SA done in SEA, he might be better than mo morris?)... more likely he ends up with a team where he is in RBBC (where he might be better than anybody else on super bowl winning giants roster as jacobs complement?)...
i realize almost everybody has soured on jones, even those who liked him more first few years in the league... while a guy like foster never really looked that great to me, i thought jones flashed some promise in his first few years... he put up decent numbers at times more recently in few opportunities, but he became increasingly overshadowed by barber (not sure if there is a lot of shame in that... barber would make more than a few currently starting RBs in NFL look poor in comparison)...
if a guy like benson could start for CHI in '07, is it THAT far fetched that if jones landed in right place he could emerge as surprise starter...
where would jones stack up against this year's rookie RB bumper crop in terms of ability & upside?
