NFL legend Junior Seau was found dead in his home in Oceanside, CA ... and cops are investigating a shooting ... multiple law enforcement sources tell TMZ.

Cops are currently at Seau's home just outside San Diego. Seau was 43-years-old ... and leaves behind 3 kids and an ex-wife.

I hate hearing this. Whatever depression or demons he was fighting, they should have been surmountable with help and treatment.

My heart goes out to his family and kids.

This is heartbreaking. I really hope these issues get more attention paid to them. This happened last year to Rick Rypien who was my 2nd cousin and an NHL Player and I hoped this wouldn't happen to anyone again. Very sad day in sports when this type of tragedy happens.

I got an old Seau jersey from 93 when I was 13, and the only jersey I still have. I've probably worn that thing through a few hundred weekend warrior games over the years, and somehow still (kinda) fits. Junior was the best

Man, that's is absolutely unreal, and downright freaky....

Seau was easily one of the best Linebackers I have ever seen including greats like Mike Singletary, Zach Thomas, Brian Urlacher, Derrick Brooks, Ray Lewis...granted Seau was mostly a Middle Linebacker but he was one of the greatest ever.

I feel sorry for the family left behind having to pick up the pieces.
