12-team Total Points / Head to Head league (pts wins most $$$).

Keep 10 this year (8 majors + 2 minors). Next year, keep 12 (8 majors + 4 minors).

Hitters:

TB, runs, RBI, BB = 1pt

SB = 2pts

Pitchers:

Win, Shutout = 8pts

Save, CG = 5pts

IP, K = 1pt

No negatives.

Weekly lineups - start every hitter position + UTIL, 5SP, 2RP

My keeper options pre-trade were:

Majors - Ortiz, Braun, Granderson, Rios, Francoeur, Tejada, Pedroia, F. Hernandez (Braun and Pedroia are minor league eligible keepers this year for the last time)

Minors - Wood, Maybin

Boarderline - Snell, Willis

8 picks in first 6 rounds - 1.3, 1.13, 2.12, 3.3, 4.12, 5.3, 6.2, 6.12

Trade = Ortiz, Maybin, 1.13, 6.12 for Hamels, Loney, R. Martin

My keepers post-trade:

Majors - Granderson, Rios, Francoeur, Tejada, R. Martin, Loney, F. Hernandez, Hamels

Minors - Braun, Wood

Boarderline - Snell, Willis, Pedroia

6 picks in 6 rounds, with the last pick being 10 spots earlier than where normal selection would be - 1.3, 2.12, 3.3, 4.12, 5.3, 6.2

Will be looking to deal Snell and Willis for just about any draft picks we get offered for them, hopefully in the 6th/7th/8th range. Will target Pedroia or BPA at 1.3.

I like it.

I think it gives me a better shot to win this year. I'm more than capable to find good youngsters to round out next year's minor league keeper increase, and better at it than most other owners in the league. I know Maybin has stud potential, but that's fine I have Wood and could target McCutheon, etc. He'd also be logjammed in the near future, barring any other trades I made, since Braun is likely full time OF in fantasy in 2009.

Moving Ortiz also opens up my DH spot which he HAD to be in last year, I like a little flexibility. Hamels gives me protection I didn't have if Felix disappoints, otherwise I got a great 1-2 punch for a points league for years to come. Martin is huge at catcher in this league, and I'm a Loney upside guy (need the power he showed in Sept though).

On a side note, does anyone think the 8/4 major/minor keeper ratio is a bit off? Do you think it should be 10/4? I see teams getting snagged by this in the future by having too many good keepers. Essentially, why keep 4 minors every year if it's gonna be hard to get them onto your roster when they have to be there?
