Justin Blackmon Can't Put the Bottle Down! (1 Viewer)

I was just thinking this AM when I originally posted this thread and how much flack I took. "How dare You say Blackmon has a problem!?!" " A young guy just having fun like all 22 year olds do!". "0.27 at 7 am in the morning isn't a problem!".

I sure am glad I went with my gut on this one and I passed on him in all my rookie drafts. Instead of getting a drunk I got Andrew Luck, Doug Martin, Alshon Jeffery, RG3.........I'm sure glad I didn't listen to y'all. :)
Cool story

I dropped him and nobody even picked him up in my league. He has less than a 10% chance of staying off the sauce. He's done man.

Justin Blackmon - WR - Jaguars

Suspended WR Justin Blackmon is currently enrolled in a voluntary 90-day treatment facility.

Jaguars coach Gus Bradley made the revelation at his Wednesday press conference. Blackmon is reportedly about halfway through the program, and Bradley made it sound like Blackmon is doing well. Although Blackmon is technically eligible to apply for NFL reinstatement on November 1 (Week 9), he seems like an extreme long shot to play this season. Either way, it's good to know Blackmon appears to be on the right track. Still only 24 years old, Blackmon is worth keeping stashed in Dynasty leagues.

So lemme get this straight. He is able to apply for reinstatement nov 1 and he is halfway done in a 90 day program? Anyone else think he is trying to play this season to accrue a full season played which is 6 games? Jax has their bye week 11 and if reinstated he could technically play 6 games by coming back week 12. Hmmmm

I'm so tempted since he's on the waiver wire in one dynasty with pretty short benches, but I need my Louis Murphy.

no way they let him back in this year. didnt they keep some guy for an extra year who had an indefinite suspension but stayed clean the whole time? cant remember his name but i think he was a defensive back. id be surprised if they let him in next year even if he stays clean until then.

I wouldn't be surprised if they let him back in next season if he stays clean and sober up to that point. He seems to be a nice young man, but is plagued by addiction. He has a lot of people in his corner, and I think he will get another chance in the NFL if he proves he can stay away from alcohol and drugs. I hope he becomes a success story.

I hate this league. Lasso-hole mullet wearing Jared Allen gets 3 DUIs, 2 within 5 months. Spends 48 hours in jail but gets a 2 game suspension. (in 2006... as Maester Luwin would say, 'a different time, a different king').

Irsay gets 6 games for driving his personnel meth/cash lab.

Justin Blackmon gets a year or more for drinking in his own house, subsequent to a DUI. Matt Prater, he of the very same DUI followed by drinking-in-his-house, gets 4 games.

Welker does Molly, acts like a jackass all over the kentucky derby, and has his suspension reduced for some reason.

Donte Stallworth's DUI+pedestrian homicide = Blackmon's DUI+drinking in his house.

Support the black mon!

strange that a majority of the people listed are white. Looks like they really are trying to keep the Blackmon down

Blackmon was eligible to apply for reinstatement on November 1. There's been no news at all that I can find about him applying for reinstatement, much less a decision by the league. Anyone see anything about it? Jacksonville homers, you hearing any rumblings now that Robinson is out for the season?

This is the only thing I could locate on a message board. Mentions a guy who ran into him and talked to him at a casino of all places (has a picture of Blackmon as well......who appeared to be in pretty good shape).

Appears Blackmon said he'd be playing next year. Thanks.

He was in rehab as of a month ago. He showed up at the San Diego/Jags massacre. Outside of the casino picture, there's been no other word on him.

Which is actually a very good sign. He should be out of the public eye, focusing on rehab.

Saw the bump and my heart fell. SO glad he's not in any new trouble. Apparently right where he should be - not in the casino so much, but quietly working his way back. I imagine its a tough and lonesome road, barred from team and league contact. I hope the new rules give a better treatment and re-hab opportunity than the old.

This is America dude. We put addicts in jail.

The old rules were pretty bad in the sense where the players were banned from being anywhere near the team.

Great idea, let's take someone with a substance problem and remove him from his team/friends that would be a far better influence on the guy than his back home pals/family.

I can't even believe that is how it was, so horribly stupid.

I take a different point of view. I'd be even more worried if he had been out drinking the night before and woke up feeling fine to drive at an alcohol level of > 0.15!! For most of us, we would be stumbling around at > 0.15.....it appears Blackmon can handle way more than that if he had been drinking last night and was still > 0.15 this AM!! This is an extremely bad sign. So I disagree with your point a view. This is not maturity. This spells a big time problem with alcohol....something that likely isn't going to be cured anytime soon for Blackmon.
you're making an awfully big assumption with very little as far as facts go... might want to tone it down a bit until we learn what was really going on. lol
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can smell an alcoholic a mile away.
