Durant is a stud in waiting. He's back healthy and got the bulk of his snaps on the weak side last night and even got a few snaps in the nickel. I've been hoping that he earned an every-down WLB role by midseason, but the groin injury was worrisome. Looks like he's picked up where he left off. In an every-down WLB role, Durant has LB3+ upside, depending on how much opportunity he can get with a ball control offense and solid defense.
He could be LB1/2 material, depending on what happens with the Jaguar LB corps. As an every-down WLB next to Daryl Smith or an every down MLB in the current scheme, he's definitely got significant upside. As an every down WLB next to a solid MLB like Peterson to someone else TBD, I think he's probably the LB3+ noted above.
What I don't get is Durant's ridiculously high spot in the OLB rankings this week. I have seen every snap of every Jaguar game this year. While Durant has exceptional potential, it has not translated into exceptional production. I realize Chicago is a good matchup for LBs, but not good enough to warrant this ranking, IMO.
