In a little more than 48 hours, 22 New Orleans Saints players will be summoned to the second-floor office of coach Sean Payton at the team’s Metairie training facility.
It won’t be a pleasant trip for many who have been working since mid-March to win a job. While the mandatory cut to the regular-season limit of 53 players isn’t until 3 p.m. Saturday, Payton has said he’ll likely pare his roster a day early.
But there’s no need to wait that long. Here’s one man’s guess at who he’ll take into the season opener against Tampa Bay and some of the bigger names that might go:
DEFENSIVE BACKS (10):
Mike McKenzie, Randall Gay, Tracy Porter, Usama Young, Aaron Glenn,
Jason Craft, Kevin Kaesviharn, Roman Harper, Lance Schulters, Chris Reis.
