Dansby update

It's becoming increasingly doubtful that outside linebacker Karlos Dansby will be ready for the regular season. He hasn't practiced yet this training camp because of a sore left toe that he said has caused problems in leg muscles.

Dansby was walking out of the team's facility Monday with a rolling bag that contained a treatment device that he said is helping.



"It's a serious injury," he said. "They say (it could be) career-ending injury."

Dansby said the problem is in the bone of his big toe. "It's moving up under my other toe, and it's causing my muscles in my left leg to shut down. I'm having a real tough time right now. It's been like this for a couple of years now, and my body just can't take it anymore."

Dansby said he feels much better now than he did a few weeks ago and is confident he'll eventually be fine. He's not sure when he'll make is preseason practice debut.

I don't have the first clue what this means.I'm no anatomist (although I play one on the weekends sometimes) but I'm not sure how an injury to the first toe (or ligament capsule or midfoot) causes weakness in the lower leg.

ATC1? Any other trainers or unfortunate souls with firsthand experience?

Smells fishy to me. From "I can't take it anymore" to "I'll be fine"? Telling Denny Green to get off his jock while he sees Orlando Huff beat up the boxscore this weekend?

I think Green stopped just short of calling him a female cat a couple of weeks back. Now, it looks like Dansby has some freak type injury or condition that I will leave to those with medical backgrounds to explain.

Nope, not that I can find. Turf toe sucks, but I'm not aware of anything (overcompensation in another area or around that capsule) that would cause a nerve impingement and weakness. Dansby was doubtful a couple of times with a unspecified toe injury last season and played. -- thanks for the help.

Think he had a ligament injury in minicamp that healed quickly. Pretty sure it's a non-issue.

Darren Urban, of the East Valley Tribune, reports Arizona Cardinals LB Karlos Dansby (toe) is not expected to require surgery on his injured left big toe.

I did research and he is showing signs and symptoms of bunions, but no where does it have anything about muscles not functioning correctly.

There is either a condition that we don't know about that can be threatening to his career, or he has a Bunion that is causing pain and walking gait problems from compensation. It maybe just a coaches excuse to not practice and play in the preseason.

Yeah, I saw it and I'm lost. Dansby says he is getting better and should be ready, but D. Green did not sound to promising. I'm staying away.
