Nice signing by the Astros. Matsui gets a horrible rep because his disaster of a run with the MEts, but he is a pretty solid player. He is going to help that team batting in the 2 spot. Going to see a ton of good pitches hitting in front of Berkman and Lee.

I think that is the plan. He was playing 2nd in the Instructional League.

ugh, 3 years, 15 million for this? A career .266 hitter, 32 years old.....has yet to play more than 105 games in a a MLB season?

Oh, and he hit .249 with a .639 OPS away from Coors field last year

With him and Bourn at the top of the lineup, they are going to have a lot of speed......but since they can't steal first, I'm not sure how much this really helps the Astros. Still have the black hole in the lineup with Adam Everett at short.

Don't really "hate" this deal for the Astros...but sheesh, what in the #### does Kaz Matsui do to deserve 5 million per year? I hope my son gets really, really fast and can flash a little leather. Looks the the Stros will be holding a spot for him in the middle of the infield.
