As long as the opponent is still trying to catch up (running offensive plays to try to move the ball down the field and score), then you should not stop trying yourself. At some point definitely put in your backups to reduce the injury risk but never stop trying to move the ball.

Once your opponenet concedes defeat, then you can let up.

Bill B should make the following offer to every team: When you start taking a QB kneel on each play (after we have a 3 score lead), we will do the same in return. Until you concede defeat we will not let up.

If that means the entire 2nd half of the game is kneel downs, then so be it. That appears to be what people want.

Also, are you all forgetting that the differential between points scored and points allowed between like opponents is a potential tie-breaker? I agree it is extremely unlikely to make a difference for New England this year, but just the idea of running up the score should be done away with for all teams because you never know when it might end up meaning the difference between making the playoffs or not. You should be mad at your own teams if they ever refuse to run up the score, you might need those points later in the season.

If I thought NE was being classless and running up the score and I was the opposing teams coach... I would blitz nine every down.

Run up the score if you want. But then deal with the bad karma that follows in late hits from players willing to pay the fine, torn ACLs and MCLs, and bulletin board material for franchises and players long after the game. I like what Belichick is doing; it's basically guaranteeing Brady will be rehabbing some sort of injury in the playoffs instead of trying to win a Super Bowl.

Here is a good example. In the 4th qtr, will the game well out of reach, the Bills elected to stop passing the ball and run it on all 3 downs. The Patriots responded this way.

Week 3 Patriots vs. Bills:

4th QTR - 38-7

New England Patriots at 08:15

1-10-NE 28 (8:15) NE 16-Cassel now at QB. 39-L.Maroney left tackle to NE 30 for 2 yards (94-A.Schobel, 52-J.DiGiorgio).

2-8-NE 30 (7:38) 39-L.Maroney right tackle to NE 33 for 3 yards (90-C.Kelsay, 98-L.Tripplett).

3-5-NE 33 (6:59) 39-L.Maroney up the middle to NE 37 for 4 yards (20-D.Whitner, 55-A.Crowell). NE 39-Maroney 2nd career 100-yard game.

4-1-NE 37 (6:16) 6-C.Hanson punts 30 yards to BUF 33, Center-66-L.Paxton, out of bounds.

New England Patriots at 05:57

1-10-BUF 12 (5:57) 34-S.Morris left tackle to BUF 11 for 1 yard (52-J.DiGiorgio, 94-A.Schobel).

2-9-BUF 11 (5:17) 34-S.Morris left guard to BUF 9 for 2 yards (97-J.McCargo, 90-C.Kelsay).

3-7-BUF 9 (4:38) 34-S.Morris right tackle to BUF 8 for 1 yard (52-J.DiGiorgio).

4-6-BUF 8 (3:55) NE 50-Vrabel & 55-Seau eligible. 44-H.Evans up the middle to BUF 6 for 2 yards (52-J.DiGiorgio, 95-K.Williams).

From the 8 yard line the Patriots go for it instead of kicking for an automatic 3. The Bills stop them, drive is over.... The difference last week is that the Redskins DIDN'T stop them. They eventually scored a late TD when their back up QB ran it in.
