Keeper/Dynasty League Rule Changes (1 Viewer)

In dynasty and/or keeper leagues, when do you present rule changes or have votes on prospective rule changes. In one league, we were able to do them at draft day since all the owners were present. In the last few years as people have moved or things have come up, we get 6-8 present, 2 or 3 online and 1 or 2 drafting by list submitted to the commish (or other owner). So rule changes do not get done or get brushed aside.

Is there a better time to do it? when does your league address this?

What we do is post new rules from each owner our league forum. Then we can post about each one. Tweek it a little. Then commish writes new rule and then we vote on them. Everyone has to vote otherwise booted from league. Works well. This is done in February. Then RFA in March/April. Then rookie draft week after NFL draft by email. Takes a while so trading can happen. Getting all owners on board all year round is the key.

We have an owners meeting approx 1 month after the season ends. We give out the trophy and other awards and discuss issues and potential new rules.

In my dynasty league we just started talking about the rules changes for next season....nice time to start it IMO, as everyone is still interested in football even though the fantasy season is over....

We discuss and vote rule changes literally at any time, including during the middle of the season. The big caveat is that our league rules stipulate that no changes can go into effect until the following season. In other words, we might vote on a rule change in week 3 of 2011, but it doesn't take effect until week 1 of 2012.

In my 12-team keeper league (10 years strong) we have an Awards Meeting in early March to hand out the trophies and cash prizes. We collect league dues for the upcoming year so everyone is paid-in-full well before the off-season really kicks in. At this meeting we discuss any rule changes suggested during the course of the past season. Then we vote on them. No rule gets changed or added unless there is a majority in favor of it. Ties are a wash.

I know there are many leagues out there where you cannot get everyone together twice a year (Draft AND Awards.) We are all friends and for the most part are all local, so it works for us.
