Keeper League "leftovers" (1 Viewer)

I am weighing a rule to a Keeper League that just finished its first season. Someone proposed that any owners that do not keep the maximum number of keepers (4) should be allowed to add any released or leftover players from other rosters. The league is also based on auction salary, so some players may have overly inflated prices that owners do not want to keep for next season.

Anyone have a rule like this, and how does it affect the keeper part of the league?

I can see how it could greatly help the lower teams who have a bad draft and don't end the season with any keeper quality players. Then they wouldn't have to rebuild as much. However, this means that a player normally available at auction to ALL teams would end up being kept by the lowest teams. I like the idea of the the lower teams being able to keep at least some players, but I don't want to help them out too much. Afterall, they were the ones who put together the poor team. Also, it would affect some of the strategy in choosing your keepers as you would be less sure that your released players were going to be available at auction for the next season.

Appreciate any feedback

Keeping another team's players? That sounds ridiculous. Why should some crap owner get the advantage of keeping players from my stacked roster? I vote a big NO on that idea.

 My thoughts exactly, plus they have the option of bidding on these players like everyone else if they really want them.

Agreed. How mismanaged must a team be not to have four keeper quality players?
