Keeper League (1 Viewer)

Hey guys. I just recently started drafting in a "Dynasty" league where we draft 20 players, next year keep 15, throw 5 back in to the draft with the rookies.

My question here is, at the end of the draft, do I take some guys that could be good in the future but may have minimal value this year? Or take some flyers in guys that could help produce this year knowing I may have to throw hem back in next year?

I posted here because I thought others might be able to benefit if they're in a similar league, that's why I didn't post specifics about scoring or my roster so far.

Thanks!

within that format I would go all future upside in the last few picks. The 15 you would keep for this year should be the basis of your squad.

I just wanted to clarify in case this could be taken differently. We draft 20 now, have all 20 on the roster for the season, then in the off-season we throw 5 back into the draft with the rookies and have a 5 round draft.

Thanks for the input! I didn't know if I should play it differently than a typical dynasty or not.

Will you be able to keep anybody you pick up as a free agent during the year?  If so, then it won't make that big of difference because those last 5 roster spots will probably be rotating all year anyway as players start to show.

If that is not the case then it makes in season moves a little more difficult.  That being the case I would take high upside players for your last few picks.  They are a crap shoot anyway so go ahead and take some chances.

I can alter the roster throughout the year, yes. I agree they will change, I just didn't know if I should go for a guy like Adam Trautman who probably won't hold value this year or a guy like Chris Thompson who could hold a little value as a spot start with three flex players needed but likely not turning into a huge contributor. If that makes any sense.

I understand the question but if you get to keep free agents as part of your 15 then it doesn't matter if you draft them.  There is no real advantage for taking a shot at a guy and you will likely be churning those spots because players will perform and jump expectations.  I would take the guys you think are the best guys regardless.  Goal is to win this year anyway.

Thank you. Appreciate it.
