Keepers: F. Hernandez, Rios, Markakis (1 Viewer)

I play fantasy baseball mostly for fun, which is probably code for I'm not very good at it. Hopefully that will change. Looking at my keeper options with our draft scheduled for March 9th and here are my options. You can keep the player in exchange for the round they were drafted in last year.

Hernandez (8th)

Rios (9th)

Markakis (14th)

This is a 10 team, HTH, 5X5 league.

If I'm going strictly based on value, Markakis and Rios seem to be the choice as both are projected to go much higher than what I'd have to give up. Hernandez will probably go in the 7th or 8th...right around what I'd be giving up. However, Hernandez, in my opinion, is the only potential difference maker in the bunch.

I'm picking 7th which might put me in the Santana neighborhood if that changes anyone's thought process.

Thanks!

Thought it was a reasonable enough question. Is the answer that obvious???

I agree with Shady. Although I, like you, am a self proclaimed "not very good at the fantasy baseball" person.

I'd go with Rios and Markakis both are better values at those rounds, and I tend to not take pitchers as keepers when you keep so few. Pitchers are much more volatile.

Hernandez's ADP is around the middle of 9th round.

rios is around the middle of the 4rth

Markakis is around the middle of the 5th.

Markakis is the no brainer. His current value is much higher than his keeper round.

King Felix and Rios are a lot closer to their actual draft position. Rios probably has the advantage by 2-3 rounds but if you really think Felix is going to put it all together this year, it's not terrible to go that route.

Markakis and Rios also for me. Both are excellent OF'ers, both will get 25HRs, 100 R and RBI with 15 SB give or take.

King Felix is a question mark to me. Might be 13 Wins or could dominate, who knows. Going in with Rios and Markakis you have sure things and an outstanding start to your OF.
