Rivers has been disappointing owners this season, to the point where i've seen him dropped. I've seen it mentioned that his reduced numbers are down to the lack of a three down role. Any chance he plays his way into one, or rebounds fantasy wise? Or is he just a low end LB.

Doubt it. The Bengals are having success using Johnson and Jones as the nickel package linebackers and there doesn't seem to be any sign of them changing this.

Rivers is a very good player, I'd rate him as one of the most underrated linebackers out there but he does a lot of good work in containment that doesn't show up on the stat sheet. We still have him down as the Bengals 3rd leading tackler despite seeing almost half as much time as the top two.

So from my point of view, Rivers has done everything asked of him and more that if the Bengals were looking to put him into the nickel package (say like the Texans were with Brian Cushing) they would have by now.
