With the waiving of Kelly Herndon, former #1 pick Kelly Jennings gets the starting nod opposite Marcus Trufant. What's the consensus on Jenning's as a FF producer for 07? Trufant put up great numbers in 04 (#4 overall DB) but dropped off in 05 & 06. We often see this when a young CB gets off the "pick on" list and on the "respected" list. At first glance, Jennings looks to be a prime candidate for being "picked on" by opposing teams, which can often be fantasy gold. What sayeth the IDP gurus?

Your analysis of Trufant is incomplete. His drop in stats might be due in part to respect for him, but it's also because he had a gimpy shoulder and had to switch away from his preferred side for 2 years. Now the shoulder is healed and he has a chance to get back on his favorite side of the field, and as Clare Farnsworth points out, the side right handed QBs naturally favor.link

Marcus Trufant thought his days of playing left cornerback were over.

But there he was Friday morning as the Seahawks opened a three-day, five-practice minicamp, back on the same side he played his first two seasons in the NFL.

It's the side he prefers.

"Hopefully this happens," said Trufant, the team's former first-round draft choice from Washington State and Tacoma's Wilson High School. "I'm going to try both (sides), but the left side was the original side and hopefully I can get back over there."

Trufant was switched to right cornerback in 2005 because he had surgery on his right shoulder following his rookie season in 2003 and also after the 2004 season. By playing on the left side, Trufant had to lead with his right shoulder while making tackles.

"I'm feeling real good," Trufant said Friday.

It does matter which side he plays, because most quarterbacks are right-handed and like to work to what is the left side of the defense.

Trufant celebrated his "homecoming" by making a lunging interception that was the best play of the day.

Worth watching as he should have the ball skills to put up good coverage stats. But he doesn't appear to be as much of a run supporter as the healthy Trufant was, so there may not be consistent value even as the potentially more frequently targeted corner.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like Trufant might be the value pick here if they put him back in the left.
