Kevin Curtis (1 Viewer)

No, I am really trying to make a point: he will show flashes of brilliance and be inconsistent in general. When he has a great game, all of you will be sure to let us know.

I would just like to see someone predict his blowup BEFORE it happens.
See previous post to help you out.

OK, please tell us which games in advance to start him. Next week against Tennesee?

Because he certainly didn't do much last week against Ari.
Can say the SAME thing about ANY player in football. See Peyton yesterday as PRIME example.
Seriously, if you want to bolster your argument in favor of Curtis you need to stop comparing him to proven players -- much less future Hall of Famers. The chances of Manning turning in a dud like he did yesterday are FAR less than the chances of Curtis turning in a dud. Meanwhile, the chances of Manning going off are FAR higher than the chances are of Curtis going off. Right now, Curtis is struggling to prove he's the best WR3 in the entire league, much less a reliable fantasy option.

Right. And those inconsistent performances are a negative, for Peyton and anybody else. Better players just have far fewer of them. Peyton lays an egg too many times, he will be dropped. Just saying that other players are inconsistent, too, is a very bad argument. Inconsistency is a negative, for anyone, at anytime. So far, by my count, Curtis is 0 for 2.

Plus Bruce is no spring chicken. That leaves a big shoe to fill and I think Curtis will get it. (Look what he did at the end of the year last year, 100 yard games left and right).

It's certainly possible. However, if he's going to be this year's Stokley than he can't be a spot-starting option. He'll have to be a consistent WR3 option no matter who the opponent and no matter where the game is being played. I'm not writing him off; as I said I do like him. But I think he's bye-week filler or an injury replacement when the matchup is right. I don't see him being a consistent WR3 this season the way Stokley was last season.
You might want to check out Stokely's game logs from last year again. I don't think anyone was considering him a consistent WR3 after the first two weeks. In fact, his stats from the first two weeks of 2004 look remarkably similar to Curtis's from this season - except the one touchdown, which Curtis would have had against SF if the DB had not knocked the ball out of Curtis's hands with his helmet. I know it's an if, but it's something to consider. There were also many weeks Stokely did very little last year. There were seven regular season weeks in which Stokely had less than 5 catches, less than 60 yards and no TDs. I'd call him anything but consistent. And that's exactly what you expect from WR3 in the NFL and WR3 in FF. You get intermittent big games, not steady production.
So far, by my count, Curtis is 0 for 2.
7 catches for 63 yards counts as an 0fer? That'd extrapolate to 112 catches and 1008 yards over a season. It's not lights out, but I think you expect a bit much from your third receivers.

JB just said in his email that Curtis's speed "is nothing special"? :confused:I thought Kevin was a speed demon?(at least Madden 06 agrees with me)

Isaac Bruce left Sunday's game with 4:18 remaining in the second quarter after hyperextending his big left toe.

Views

Bruce had one catch for 11 yards before he left. This is the same injury that Ravens quarterback Kyle Boller suffered earlier this year. Boller is expected to be out until the end of October, but the injury could have left him on the sideline longer if he would have needed surgery. Bruce will likely undergo a series of tests later tonight or Monday morning. If he misses any considerable time, Kevin Curtis becomes a good option as the Rams' No. 2 wide receiver.
To those who didn't listen to me... ;)

I'd be very leery of calling this a Boller type injury until we know a LOT more. He could very easily be back next week.I sent an email advising them to grab Curtis but I'd wait till we see from the docs before we do too much.

Thinking Curtis is ranked pretty low in light of the fact that it looks like he'll be the #2 this week vs. a Giants team who is giving up 300+ a game. With Bruce out, the reception projections don't jive and either Holt gets them all or Curtis should be 10-12 spots higher IMO. I'm benching Driver for Curtis as my WR 4. (Moss, Owens, Glenn, Curtis). Might regret it, but the numbers don't lie and the Giants look tasty to throw on.

Agreed.(I believe it's "Jibe" not "Jive" but as I dont know squat I shouldn't say either way... :P )

I will be different for Curtis now, he will not be in the slot with Bruce and Holt drawing the coverages letting him run free.

Id be starting Curtis this week (was the 1 guy I HAD to have coming into draft day this year) if it weren't for CJ against HOU or Branch against SD.

Jason Wood, typically you have some good stuff esp. when it comes to stats, of all the guys on the site I agree most with your predictions. But don't let the numbers fool you onthis... if bruce has turf toe, he may as well not even play, it is nasty, granted, it varies in degree, but i would have to say that martz didn't down play it (maybe i missed that) it is pretty bad. curtis should have more value than bruce in that instance. Unfortunately, i think we saw a preview of what wil happen if bruce is not able to go during last weeks game.... Holt owners can rejoice, he will be a top 3 WR in the absence of bruce..

Da Guru,You do understand that Bruce left last weeks game early last week, right?

It is under the exact situation that you say Kurtis will not be able to thrive, that he did.

Not a knock but I really don't know why so many guys are ranked lower than logic dictates this year. This is one of them. If Bruce was 100% I would bet he would be easily a top 15 on the boards so with him out, why wouldn't Curtis not be respected as highly? The QB loves him and has clearly shown in many games end of last year that he will target him. Heck, last week he scored a tough TD while double covered. He's a must start IMO.

I am sure Da Guru didn't watch the game

Heck, not only did Da Guru probably not watch last weeks game, apparently he didn't watch the play-offs last year either. Against the Falcons, Bruce was inactive and Curtis took his spot. Curtis caught seven passes for 128 yards, including a 57-yard touchdown.

The only thing that worries me about the Rams-Giants game this weekend is the Rams being on the road, and just have not been as good outside of their dome. Yes, the Giants secondary is bad, so we'll see if they can step it up and Holt/Curtis can put up some nice passing numbers on Sunday.

So you'd start him over DJax and Starvin Marvin?

Good point. As of now I have Curtis over Horn, Bennett, and T Taylor

NYG are missing their #1 corner. Hoping for the best
