Kevin Jones has amazing open workout (1 Viewer)

I'm curious why no one is mentioning the Jets. I guess people think T. Jones is a lot better than I think he is...
Because the Jets are fine at RB. Why take a risk on someone like Kevin Jones when you already have a solid RB? With a new oline, TJones should be a lock for around 1300 yards rushing next year. The only thing that Kevin Jones is a lock for is getting carried off on a stretcher.

Thomas Jones should be a "lock" for 1300 rushing yds? The guy is going to be 30 years old, and in 8 seasons has has broke 1300 yds... once. I'm not knocking him as a player, I think he's pretty good, and I'm not saying Kevin Jones is as good, but I'm not convinced it's a sure thing Jones will have his best season ever when he's over 30.

No one has mentioned that in the video he says he was brought in and talked to by the Patriots. If he ends up there I'd say that's it for any FF value in 08, possibly 09

ETA, from article:

Jones, who was scheduled to make $2.4 million in 2008, will hold a workout for all NFL teams on June 28. Jones has already visited the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans.

Green Bay--Grant was great last year down the stretch...for some reason I'm not 100% sure he's the real deal.Houston--Ahman Green, Chris Brown...eh
I would be on board with either of these. Both teams have demonstrated that you can never really have enough RBs in the stable in recent yerars, injuries are just silly these days.GB has lots of $ to work with and KJ could be used sparingly the first 6 weeks, then become the 3rd down back unless Grant later goes down and he can beat out Jackson. Would KJ like that role? Perhaps not. But would be a good spot for him.Pretty much ditto for Houston.

I said he should be a lock for AROUND 1300 yards. He has rushed for over 1200 yards in 2 of the last 3 years. He ran for 1119 last year with an absolutely horrible offensive line. If he can improve his YPC from 3.6 to 4 and keep the same amount of carries (310), then he is looking at 1240 yards rushing. Definitely a good chance of that with a MUCH, MUCH improved offensive line and a Pro Bowl fullback. And I didn't say it would be his best year ever. He had 1335 yards in 2005...he probably won't quite reach that, but he should be pretty close.

Tennessee, what is LenWhale, Chris Henry, Chris Johnson and KJ going to get 60 carries each. Talk about RBBC.

The smart move would be to sign Jones now and put him on the PUP list by the beginning of the season. Then when one of your backs goes down to injury, you have the option of activating Jones.

Q:What is PUP??A: My answer is based on a Ron Del Duca's Agent Column on ProfootballTalk.Com and an Michael Fegler article regarding Rosevelt Colvin. A player who fails his club's pre-season physical at the start of training camp may be placed on the club's Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. A player on PUP is eligible to receive his salary, but is ineligible for games and practices; he is, however, allowed to attend team meetings. For a three (3) week period beginning with the day after the club's 6th regular season game and ending on the day after the 9th regular season game, a player on PUP may practice with his club and/or be restored to the club's 53 man roster (provided it is done before the day after the 9th regular season game). Note that there are two different types of PUP. Players that land on reserve-PUP are ineligible to play or practice for the first six weeks of the regular season. Players on active-PUP can be taken off the list at any point during training camp. Once a player is taken off active-PUP and returns to practice, he cannot be placed on reserve-PUP later. Please note that a player on PUP will count against the cap. I think but do not know for sure that players on active-PUP count against the 80-man roster limit and players on reserve-PUP do not.
