I don't have a kicker on my roster yet, and I'm looking to pick one. I'm in an 8-team league, and I'm wondering how I should go about it. Obviously I'm not going to get any stud kickers, i.e. Vinateri, because we've already had our draft. What I want to know is does anyone just pick up kickers based on SOS, or rather by system and opportunity. I'm debating between Stover, Elam, and Mare, but then one side of me says play the SOS and just add/drop kicker based on SOS. What is the best way to approach kickers after the draft?

Pick a different kicker every week according to matchup.

In an 8 team league, the other 7 owners will have no more than 14 of the kickers.... you can find a great matchup every week on waivers. If you find one that is on an offense that explodes this year, ride him.

Why waste the roster space on something that is not at all consistant

I wouldn't even bother trying to play the match-up. Kickers are too inconsistent and you never know when they will go off.

I really like the 3 you listed so grab one and play him every week. He will probably finish in the top 8 which is all you can ask for.

During season - Whoever is the best available on your roster or the waiver wire that week.

Why decide now? Pick a decent kicker with a few good matchups in September, then see from there.

agree. play the wire for whoever has been hot -- in a small league there will always be an option. i wouldn't try to play matchups.

Sorry, but you're going to get a stud kicker: Elam. He's a pretty good choice. He's been top 10 for the last 10 years or so.

I don't draft kickers, I thought that is what the waiver wire is for.
