Kicker Rankings? (1 Viewer)

TBH I haven't really paid attention to Kickermania until this season. And while I know it's just the kicker, it's always great to have those extra points to gain an advantage at that particular position. For some of you veterans, which of these two ranking systems do you tend to use? Why?

Any other strategies you tend to use when selecting kickers?

Kickermania/Herman is really the only way to go. I think that even Dodds would probably agree with that.

There is a site that rankings projections, and when it came to kickers, Herman was 71% accurate, while second best was in the low 40's. I can't remember the site, but it was posted on here a while back.

Regardless of rankings, I think getting the best one available at the beginning of the season (and following the drop when your kicker is on bye) is really the best way to go. Herman has helped me draft a top 4-5 kicker every season with my last round pick, and I've always been able to replace them with another top 5 guy at the bye. This year, Neil Rackers was my selection, and I'm loving the week 11 bye.

Interesting thoughts. So far it's all for Herman. Since he is so accurate (as it's been statistically proven), why is there a need for other FBGs to have rankings as well?

Just to have discussion?

They should default the fbg rankings to hermans for PK's. Right now people have to manually select hermans rankings which most people don't do, to their own detriment.

Exactly. I'm discovering that. And I'm one of the people in the WW Kicker category where my plan is essentially just pick the highest available player on Herman's list each week.

It's amazing how well he does with kickers. Would be interesting to see what would happen if fbg would have people who focus solely on one position.

Through the first three weeks, Herman has posted a 54.3% accuracy rating. Dodds has posted a 63.4% accuracy rating. Herman is better eh?

Herman has done it year after year, rather than just a few weeks. Check out the 2010 rankings on the same site..

Yeah, you gotta go with whatever provides more data. No way I'm going to trust just 3 weeks...If I did, I'd be thinking I'm a guru too (would be 3-0 if it weren't for Britt's early exit last week). Here are the rankings since they've been referenced a couple times.

Kicker is one of those positions where I will gladly just blindly follow someone that that has proven themselves. It sure beats thinking about over/unders, indoor/outdoor, weather conditions, and red zone efficiency...just to make a kicker call! LOL.

Arguably the most remarkable showing came from FootballGuys' kicker specialist, Mike Herman. For those that aren't aware, Herman is a devotee of all things kicker related and even operates his own blog, appropriately namedKickology. It's only fitting, therefore, that he lapped the field in the one category he submitted rankings: Kicker. Herman's accuracy score, 76.3%, was so far and away the #1 rating (#2 was 46.1%) that we'll be requesting he submit to a doping test within the next 24 hours. In all seriousness, congrats are in order because this was an incredible performance. Now might not be a bad time to ask FootballGuys for a raise, Mike.

I'll bet that picking Suisham week 1 as a top 3 K is pulling Herman down in the small sample size. Then again, no one predicted how far off this Pitt team would be that week.
