Kicker Sleeper Alert (1 Viewer)

It seems unlikely that kicking the PAT makes sense when you don't have a kicker. Just go for 2.
I agree with this unless you really felt he had a good chance at making it. Keep in mind, the score was the Lions winning by 3 so getting that 1 point from the PAT was huge. The 2 point conversion really gave them no advntage whatsoever, so as a coach, you would have to believe your offense has a better chance of scoring a 2 point conversion against the Jets D than Suh hitting the extra point.I'm not saying what's right or wrong, just spelling it out as the extra point you get from the 2 was worthless. The Lions just weren't meant to win the game. They totally had that game won, even without Hanson getting hurt. Stafford goes down with 5 minutes to play up by 10 and the Lions just fall apart. Big penalties, not being able to run when the game is on the line, in OT I was 99.9 percent sure the Jets would win that game. The Lions had a dinged kicker and a 3rd string QB in the game, freaken disaster.Calvin will definately take a hit with Stanton as the QB, he BLOWS!

We also don't know - Suh may have been practicing all season as the emergency backup. Given that Hanson is like 80 years old (and was injured a bit in training camp) you gotta figure that he was the legitimate plan B.

That's just poor planning on the Lions part. Surely the Lions should have a better option than their rookie 310 pound stud DT. His technique looked sloppy.

:rolleyes:Every team should prepare for a situation like this. Did Suh practice kicks before the game? I don't think so.If the punter is also the backup kicker, then who is the backup holder? It can't be that difficult, people.

Suh was known to take kicks in practice at Nebraska, though never attempted a kick (thanks to playing ith future NFL draft pick Alex Henery). He also played soccer until high school, I believe.

Hanson was roughed up in kickoff coverage a couple times last week as well. No excuse for not having an alternate prepped.

I saw the highlight, it wasn't a bad kick. Looks like he planted early and pushed the kick.
