Kicking Game (FF Playoffs) (1 Viewer)

It's the playoffs and I'm looking for points anywhere I can find them. Our league contracted from 12 to 10 teams this off-season so our FA pool might be a little better than the rest of yours. Anyways... I'm intrigued by these 3 guys for Week 16&Week 17

Ryan Longwell (Vikings looking very good)

Jason Elam (On Fire)

Josh Scobee (Jags looking good, doesn't get the opportunities vs. good teams)

Thoughts?

Other guys you're looking at?

Kicking is so hard to predict, I never guess right.
I agree with this, but there are usually two things in my eyes to predict what we could expect. The Vikings have looked very good lately. They're now 7-6 coming off 4 straight wins. They're playing Washington week 16 and Denver week 17. While they aren't great matchups, they are winnable and the team could continue rolling.Elam has been on fire lately with matchups against San Diego and Minnesota in weeks 16 & 17.Scobee is more of the longshot in my opinion. The offense has looked good recently and he put up alot of points against Carolina and Buffalo but struggled against Indy and San Diego. His two playoff games against Oakland and Houston are easy matchups, like the Carolina & Bills games, and could have a very good playoff performance.Other than how the offense has been playing and who they're facing, the only other factor in my eyes that can determine how well a kicker does is the weather, but obviously we won't know that until it gets closer. Is anybody else planning on making a move for a kicker for the playoffs? Or rolling with one of the guys I mentioned above?

Longwell is a good option, especially with the Vikes playing indoors the next few games.

I have been giving some thought to Dawson and Graham. Both have favorable schedules, and have offenses that can put up points. I have been riding Mason Crosby for quite a while, who has been solid. A week 16 game at Chicago, where weather could be a factor, has me considering different options.

I wouldn't touch Scobee with a bargepole this week (I would definitely go for Longwell). The Jaguars are at Pittsburgh. Here's a post I made earlier about kickers at Heinz Field in Dec/Jan:In December and January at Heinz Field (14 games overall):There have never been more than 3 FGs in a game;No visiting team has ever kicked more than one FG in a game;No visiting team has ever kicked a FG longer than 43 yards (and that was only done in 2002);The longest FG kicked by a visiting team in the last ten games has been 34 yards.I would definitely go for Longwell.

Regarding Elam, be aware that in week 16 the Broncos face San Diego, who have been the worst match-up for kickers this season - I'm not sure why (it's not clear at first glance, unlike, say, New England, where it's obvious why nobody has kicked many FGs against them) but it might be something to bear in mind.

Longwell at home in the dome against the Bears and Redskins over the next two weeks looks the way to go. He's scored 9 FGs and 19 extra points in six home games this season and both his next two opponents are prone to being involved in multiple FG games.
