What would it take for Cleveland to move from 4 to 2 and land RG III? The 22nd pick on rd one plus a late rd pick (6th) this year.
Schefter said it would take (his words:) 'at least' as much as the New York Giant deal to move up for Eli Manning which was: two first-round draft picks, one third-round draft pick, and one fifth-round draft pick.Kiper is tweeting two first-round picks and a later pick which is less than what the G-Men used to exchange QBs (Rivers for Manning).

Hmnnn... Not sure what to make of this.

Maybe he's got a line that the Rams are not willing to move down to the sixth pick because the guy they want will not be available there so they would be willing to take less to assure they get the guy they want.

doesnt seem like enough

I think the difference between 4 and 6 is pretty significant in this draft, especially for a team wanting either the top tackle or top WR.

To move up 2 spots? That's plenty.

And...one more time... what they'd be "giving up" is a 1st, 3rd, and 5th since they'd be using the other first on a player anyway.

I believe NY gave up an addition 1st rounder in the FOLLOWING year. The fact that Cleveland has 2 1st rounders THIS YEAR makes their potential trade package more valuable.

don't forget the Giants had to move up from 4-1 to get Manning. The browns are only moving up from 4-2. It makes a little difference. To top it off EVERYBODY that needed a QB would have taken Manning, not everybody is going to pay a king's ransom for RGIII. Now the nice thing is the rookie cap, I actually feel the draft picks should be more because the teams that acquire these guys are saving mega cash compared to what teams had to pay prior to last year.

Another big difference is that when the Giants and Chargers traded the Chargers needed a QB and had drafted Manning. The Rams are not in a position to draft RGIII and be happy holding him if their trade demands aren't met. They will basically be plain old selling this pick to whoever is willing to give the most but they can not realistically draft RGIII and be happy with him if they do not find a trade they like.

Another huge difference ws that SD did not mind keeping ELi is nothing was done. They felt they needed a QB also. SL is way more motivated to trade down since they dont want Griffin as they are already set at QB. By dropping down to the 4, they get either Kahil or Blackmon which could be a target right now. I agree that dropping down to the 6 takes Kahil out of the equation and maybe even Blackmon.

Exactly, the Rams aren't setting the market here. They have to make a trade at this point. Just picking the guy the want and letting the Vikings trade the Griffin pick is not an acceptable outcome.

That's just semantics, and could easily be read either way. So before the trade, the team had the 4th pick. After the trade, they don't. Strong case to be made for saying they "gave that pick up" in the trade.Regardless, I think the suggested retail price of moving from 4 to 2 seem kind of steep to me, rather than cheap. But value always boils down to what someone is willing to pay. As has already been stated, it would be crazy for the Rams to stay put, and everybody knows that, so there is some leverage on both sides especially if it does get down to only one legit contender for the pick. I could see the price dropping if the remaining team is willing to call a Rams bluff. Getting an extra first round pick plus another later pick for dropping two spots, one of which is guaranteed to be a guy you don't need, is a pretty nice haul. If I were the Rams, I'd do it right now before anything has a chance to blow up.

Just wanted to note that the Rams have announced their pick is on the market but they haven't actually gotten any offers yet.

Rams writer Jim Thomas

*1)Whats the chances the Rams trade the 2nd pick for Cleveland for their 4/22 and a later round pick?

2) Sources say the Redskins are gonna offer there 1st,2nd and 3rd round pick and next years 1st just for the 2 slot. Is that accurate? and why in the world wouldnt the Rams take that offer?

Jim Thomas: 1.) It's obviously within the realm of personality.

2.) The "source" your referring to here is a radio station personality. . .in Philadelphia. So take that for what it's worth, although I do think such an offer would make sense.

Nothing resembling an offer has been made yet by anybody.

Unless St. Louis wants Claibourne, the player they will probably still be able to get who they want at 6, instead of 4.
