Buccaneers | Brackins released

Buccaneers.com reports the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have released WR Larry Brackins.

quick, someone jump in with the list of late round WR prospects who left their original team and went on to big time success.

Jimmy Smith?

Well, Brackins isn't exactly a rocket scientist. I'd like to think he'll rejoin the Bucs on the practice squad (he wasn't going to make the active roster anyway)

He was the first guy I thought of too, but IIRC, he left as a FA. After netting 500 yards his 4th year.

Why is this a surprise? The dude had horrible workout numbers and was a 5th round pick. Just because he went to JC doesn't make him good.

A little early to be cutting your practice squad candidates isn't it?

To me, both going from JC to NFL unceremoniously is what I think of most

I could be mistaken, but I think Sniff was like a second round pick. I like Patrick Jeffers more in this situation.

Brackins will catch on - in the Arena League. I liked Brackins, we'll see if he goes to another team.
It would be cool if he signed with the Storm.

Will Paris be next?

IIRC FBG Pewter report interview called this one right

I think Jonathan Carter was cut too

Pats, Cle, and NYJ should try him out.

Wouldn't be surprised if his name came up witht the Ravens. IIRC McNair was throwing to him immediately after the draft. If there is an O not suited for a bone head it would be JGs. He may be ok on a run first team, if he could block.

New Brackins experiment. :goodposting: http://weblogs.amny.com/sports/football/je..._and_favre.htmlWR Larry Brackins, an interesting candidate who just finished playing for a championship team — the Arena League's Philadelphia Soul.

Brackins was Tampa Bay's fifth-round draft pick out of Pearl River CC in Mississippi in 2005. The Bucs made him a last cut in '05 and an even quicker cut in July of '06, but the 6'4", 225-pounder found a home with Philly in the AFL.

Here are Brackins' Arena League totals: Year Team Recs Yards Avg TDs

2007 Philadelphia 56 786 14.0 20

2008 Philadelphia 107 1395 13.0 29
