Chris Chambers - KC - Anything left in the tank ? looked ok down the stretch last year

Jabar Gaffney - Den - Looks like he could be the #1 option in town , Orton seems to have faith

Kenny Britt - Ten - All the emphasis of the D 's will go to CJ and Young .... Young throws a decent long ball

Mike Williams - TB - Lots of Hype on the rookie... Can Freeman be back for wk #1

Jacoby Jones - Hou - Trying to takeover the #2 spot from Walter.... has looked great so far.... could be his year to breakout

Louis Murphy - Oak - Looks to be the #1B to Te Z.Miller ..... lots of upside with Campbell ..... good pre-season

Legedu Naanee - SD - With V.Jax all but gone this kid will get his shot alongside M.Floyd in an offense that likes to throw for 4000 yds per yr

I like all of these guys as late round Gems or Flyers .

For those who have drafted , where have they been going ?? Or are they not being drafted at all??

Would love to here everyones thoughts . :goodposting:

Great post.I'll add one more:

Mike Williams, Seattle (6'5", 230. Lottery pick pedigree who has looked fantastic)

Chris Chambers - KC - Not drafting him unless very late. I think others have more upside.

Jabar Gaffney - Den - I think he can get you 100/1 in any given week but also may give you 12/0 depending on who is defending him.

Kenny Britt - Ten - Has looked pretty good. Like his upside.

Mike Williams - TB - Looks awesome. I'm hesitant on rookie WRs.

Jacoby Jones - Hou - Will spread the ball out more, especially when Daniels is back.

Louis Murphy - Oak - One of my favorite late rounders. Should be a servicable WR3 most weeks.

Legedu Naanee - SD - I like his potential but wonder if the talent is there.

Of these guys only Chambers has been available late (I consider late the last 3 rounds of a 12 team, 18 round draft) in the two leagues I've drafted for so far. In particular Naanee and Williams (TB) have gone in the round 8-11 range.

A lot of those guys are going in the 9th to 12th round in PPR leagues. Naanee and Murphy are probably more like 14-16th but are rising recently. I doubt Murphy goes that late anymore given Schilens injury.

Laurent Robinson is a guy I'm looking it, particularly with the Avery season-ending injury. The Rams will likely have to throw the ball early and often.

Mohamed Massaquoi - Forgot about this guy ...... lots of upside with Jake the Vet at the helm.

Thanks for the input all so far...... keep it rolling

:moneybag:

I was thinking this would be a bit deeper (I took Ronbinson in the 14th last night for example)...I have been playing the 12 team/25 round best ball draft and plays on Fanball (no in season transactions), and I like to grab a flier WR or two in the last 3 rounds. A few targets:

Darrius Heyward-Bey - I like him as a WR6/7 in best ball. Speed alone could give him a few big games this year, which means he might crack the lineup once.

Josh Cribbs - another home run hitter that can take it to the house with every touch.

Brian Hartline - not as exciting as the other two. Hartline is more of a weekly production guy than a flier. I tend to look at Hartline if I am only going 6 deep at WR.

I got Murphy in round 15 and L. Robinson in round 18...great value for WR3/flex options with upside as my WR5 and WR6.

The two that I wanted to throw out here are not rookies or unknown name, but Roy Williams has a chance to put up very good numbers this year if Dez doesn't take his job away...He went the pick before Murphy in our draft last night. The other one is Burleson playing opposite Calvin.

Sometimes the guys that aren't sexy picks end up being overlooked, but I'd rather roll the dice on all of those guys over a Chris Chambers or MoMass.

Just my $.02

A lot of the guys mentioned here are from bottom 10 offenses (L. Robinson, L. Murphy, M. Williams, N. Burleson). Unless those offenses improve dramatically, which could be the case, there ain't much to see here.

I like the James Jones and Jacoby Jones types..talented guys from top 10 offenses who are either fighting for a starting spot, or are an injury away from one. Or a guy like Edleman for PPR, who most Welker owners should have handcuffed, but may have went undrafted.

There's also the "take your pick" option of Lance Moore, D. Henderson, and Meachem from the Saints. Meachem was probably drafted in your league, but chances are Moore and Henderson could be on waivers.

Don't forget about Camerillo with the Vikes..could be a Wes Welker lite.

At this early point in the season, I would rather stash "backups" on high-powered offenses versus the starters from offenses that will struggle to stay on the field and score points.

I just saw Gaffney go in the third round of a $350 money league draft but in general he has moved up into the 8-10 round range. Williams has moved up into the 9-12 range from what I have seen. I like Naanee and have been grabbing him in almost every league I can as he is a starter on a strong offense with a very good QB and all of the attention will likely be put on Gates and Floyd. Im starting to look closer at some of the Lions players as their offense looks much improved and I expect a lot of shootout type games against the likes of GB and MIN.

The bolded part is very relevant - going off last year's data could result in missed opportunities. Things change very quickly in the NFL.

Chambers: I am not that hot on anyone in KC. He may be put up WR3 numbers, but this is upside. If looking at a flyer, I would rather go after someone with higher upside.Gaffney: he DOES have good upside--at least WR2 upside. Why? There is no one else in that offense. Almost no competition. And he showed good chemistry with Orton last year. He is the quintessential, average player in a situation where he could perform above average. Orton is a decent QB and I still think Denver will have to pass a lot to stay in games. There are alot of Marshall targets to distribute and I see Gaffney getting a lot of them.Britt: He is probably the most talented Wr on the team and so he is worth a shot; could give you WR2 numbers. His off season problems worry but that's why you can get him cheap.Mike Williams: haven't seen him play yet but he is also on a team where there is no competition and the team will pass a lot and he has looked good so far. Worth a shot.Jacoby Jones; No. AJ is getting the lions share of looks and they will run the ball with Foster too. I am not sold on his ability either.Murphy: Meh. He is worth a shot but I still think Chaz will play and will be the WR1. Plus, Zach Miller will lead the team in targets. Their D and running game can be good, which means they won't be passing a ton. I see Murphy putting up 40-50 catches for 600-800 yards. His upside isn't worth it.Nannee: See Murphy. Gates is the receiver to own in that offense; always has been. I like Floyd's chances better than Nannee, but even if Nannee starts I see him at best putting up 800 yards. That's the upside IMO.

I just saw Gaffney go in the third round of a $350 money league draft but in general he has moved up into the 8-10 round range.
Wow... third rd.(Must have been a Denver homer) I would like to take him about Rd 12/13. hope he slides that far. great value

Louis Murphy looks like the real deal. What a great prospect. And now with a respectable QB in Oakland. I really love this kids upside.

Still loving that no one seems to talk about Brandon Tate. In three WR sets he has been playing with Moss and Welker in the preseason. I ask you, if either of the two get hurt (especially Moss) who is going to start? His upside is very high.

And........he returns kicks. If you get any points for KR it's gravy. Averaged 21 yards a catch last two years before getting hurt. Kid has mad talent and is fully back from injury. Pats took him in the fourth despite a blown out knee last year, bet they have plans for him.

Murphy: Meh. He is worth a shot but I still think Chaz will play and will be the WR1. Plus, Zach Miller will lead the team in targets. Their D and running game can be good, which means they won't be passing a ton. I see Murphy putting up 40-50 catches for 600-800 yards. His upside isn't worth it.
I couldn't disagree more. What has Chaz Schilens ever done? Two years, 24 games: 44/591/4Louis Murphy, rookie year, 16 games: 34/521/4What makes you think Chaz is worth anything? Murphy was drafted higher, has produced more, and is not injured. Murphy is the best WR on this team, and Jason Campbell is a big upgrade over the QBs last year. Won't be passing a ton? This isn't the Jets. They will throw enough for both Zach Miller and Louis Murphy to be solid fantasy players. It's this attitude of just writing off a team without breaking down the numbers and examining things that allows for late round steals like Murphy.

Josh Morgan as the 2nd wr on an improving offense in a weak division should be worth a late round flyer.

Same for Nate Burleson in Detroit.

Lastly, even in a redraft, I think a late round flyer for Stephen Williams can reap rewards.

Jordan Shipley - Carson Palmer's arm isn't what it used to be, and Shipley will be facing the nickel back at most. In PPR leagues, I think he'll catch a lot of passes.

I don't post frequently, but have learned much from listening to the resident sages. So to pay back...

I do more research than most, and have two words to answer your question.

Eric Decker, WR DEN.

The "sleeper" is Jaffney, but Decker is better and will rise to the top WR on his team.

Orton has a noodle arm (83% of passes < 10 yds in '09), and Decker was one of the best possesion WRs in college FB til a foot injury dropped him to the third round in the draft. Good blocker. Top Wunderlick (FWIW).

He's healthy, as evidenced by his 10 catches tonight.

Just hope my league mates haven't found this site. G'luck.

Anthony Armstrong WR Washington Redskins He is playing his way to the #2 receiver for Washington (behind Galloway). Galloway is just a motivational tool in my opinion. Remember this guy, Donovon loves throwing to him and he has the speed to go deep and he catches everything.
