Lawyer / car accident question (1 Viewer)

i am not a litigious person. Don't have a lawyer. Never sued anyone. I was in a car accident where a very old lady ran a red light and I unfortunately plowed into her. Have had a stiff neck and back ever since (3 days ago). My doctor took an x ray and said I have fused cervicles due to the trauma and will need a few months of therapy and rehab. All of this will be covered by the offender's auto insurance so no money out of my pocket. I'm pretty sure I should be ok, but just wondering, should I be getting a lawyer? I do not endorse or think highly of ambulance chasing lawyers but just wondering if I should be exploring options in case stuff doesn't go so well. My pain hasn't gone away past three days. Neck and lower back pain and odd nerve tingling. Could just be whiplash but I have no clue, never experienced this before. TIA.

Absolutely you need a lawyer. Back issues are not always that simple, who is to say you couldn't have some complications down the road. I feel the same way about ambulance chasers but you need some type of professional legal help on your side to deal with the worse scum, insurance companies. Hope you feel better.

Get a lawyer, pronto.

The insurance companies have a slew of lawyers, and they will try to lowball you.

I don't like insurance companies, either, ROCKET, but they are not the worst scum.

You don't have to call an ambulance chaser from some ad, there are plenty good plaintiff attorneys around, get a reliable reference. Just don't hire a guy who will do nothing and settle quickly because they run a lawsuit mill.

From my dealings with them they are. I guess that's a matter of opinion.

You only need an attorney if you need to pay someone a third of your settlement to handle it for you, or to file to extend statute (Usually a year but varies state to state)

Keep good records and file the claim with for pain and suffering with the insurance company. They will pay for bills and usually about x2 for specials.

If you don't like their offer you can always lawyer up later. Also if you do hire an attorney make sure to get in writing that they will only take their commission out of the additional amount they negotiate so you don't end up with less than you already have in hand.

Great advice, thanks!

Yeah you need an attorney so that your case must be setteled and lawyers are such persons who will take all the case in their hand and wil help you in having all the medical claims from the insurance company as I have hired marijuna lawyer for having the drugs related issue with my cousin and they resolved all the matter within a few days. So whenever i come in trouble with legal issued my first option is to hire an attorney.
