I wonder if he can put up the kind of numbers Peterson was putting up before he got hurt. I've had Lawson ranked higher than most, based on the drafts I've been in. I didn't think there was much question as to whether or not he would start. Thanks for the update.
Nolan has said from day one that Lawson would be on the field.
No surprise there.
However, he will not be filling "Julian Peterson's" role, rather the talk is that the team will be reprising the old "elephant" role of Charles Haley to suit Lawson's pass rushing skills.
Nolan has also said they will not overload Lawson with too much (ie pass coverage like JP); his role will be to get in the backfield and get the QB.
I wouldn't be shocked to see some decent sack numbers this year, but tackles should remain relatively low.
Another SF rookie IDP to keep on eye on is Parys Haralson. If he continues to impress, he could bounce Brandon Moore out of the starting lineup and into a backup role at all OLB and ILB spots.
