What did you think of LeBron wearing a Yanks hat at Jacobs Field last night?

Normally I'm not sure I would think anything of it but we are talking Mr Cleveland here who grew up in Akron, and basically the face of sports in the city. I think if I were an Indians fan I'd be a little disappointed in Lebron but I'd probably forgive him after he dropped 52 on the Celtics. I guess Lebron is so national that what would be considered a courtesy in rooting for the home team, escapes him.

I'm really sick of hearing about this...and today he's getting reemed again on Rizzo about last night.

People need to lighten up and face the facts. Lebron has always been a Yankees fan. Always. One thing this is not is a slap on Cleveland. Why should he change now? Who would he appease by doing so? All the idiots that are ripping him?

For those that voted for him keeping the hat at home.....would it have been OK if he cheered/supported out loud for the Yankees last night without that hat? What the difference if he had the hat on or not, and then told Sager he's rooting for the Yanks?

Also, Mike Golic said if the Tribe played the Phillies in the WS when he played for the Eagles, he'd have rooted for the Tribe but would leave his hat at home.

I just don't get the garb stuff. What's the difference?

Always? I'd bet he's been a Yankee fan since '96. It's not a big deal, but it's kinda funny that the guy is a huge doofus.
Well he would have been under 10 then, so you get impressionable.I give him credit for having some sack, you wouldn't see Michael Jordan do that back in the day if his favorite team was playing the Cubs or White Sox in a playoff game. He was too cold and calculating a marketing machine. If for no other reason then to see a guy not live his life as a means of offending as few as people as possible, I'm for it.

:coffee: and im a yankee fan

He's never once said anything bad about the Indians and he's friends with some of them. He supports the Indians. If the Indians win this series, he'll root for them to win it all.

And that's not frontrunning. The Cowboys stuff, maybe. I don't have intel on that. Thought he always wanted to be a WR for the Browns actually.

It's kind of like the CEO of GM driving a Toyota.
Not really.
Owner of Wendy's eating at McDonalds?
No, that be more like LeBron wearing a Spurs hat during pre-game shootaround before the NBA championship.Do people still watch that league anyway? The Refs fix games there, no?

Taking home a fat chick but telling your friends she was really hot?

Right, if Lebron rooted for the Spurs during the finals this year while playing for the Cavs.

Stupid Decision for marketing purposes, but personally i could care less. There are folks in this city who are truly offended. They need to get over it.

If he was from NY it might be different as to how it is perceived.

I get this all the time "Why are you rooting for the NYY?"

My response: "I was born and raised there."

The reply "Well that makes sense, good luck"

I don't go out of my way to be an obnoxious j@ck### about it, but I have no fear wearing NYY garb into the Jake either. As soon as the season heats up, no one will care what hat we wears to the Jake.

He can do whatever he wants....To me it's respect thing to the same Fans that root for him......I think there is a difference between sitting there cheering for the Yankees and wearing the Garb.....Heck, I just don't like going to rival places and wearing my team colors anyway... I'm not one to get all dressed up like Derek Jeter and go off to Fenway - It brings attention and most likely the wrong kind of attention... Now if I were the biggest Sports star in Boston it would be pretty easy to understand that it's a no win situation and I just wouldn't want to be that much of a #### to draw attention like that.Same deal with Brady - It's one thing to wear a Yankee cap around NYC But, I think if he shows up at Fenway wearing it, he's just a bit closer to being a #### and will ineviably bring attention to himself and whatever comes with it....But, yeah, it's a free country.

(Speaking of Cleveland, how 'bout LeBron's wearing a Yankees cap to the Yanks-Tribe game last night? Why not just hold a press conference to say, "I'm signing with the Knicks in two years?" Has there ever been a bigger and more random slap in the face to an entire city of sports fans? Even if you're a Yankees fan, don't you have to hide this in a PLAYOFF GAME THAT'S IN CLEVELAND???? I'm still speechless. I'm without speech. We're within three years of Knicks GM Anucha Browne Sanders introducing Bron-Bron to the New York press as Spike Lee sobs happily in the background.

Sportshomer Simmons.

Pretty sure he's not a New York guy.

Speaking of Simmons...on the Cy debate...
And while we're here, how could anyone pick Josh Beckett for the the Cy Young Award over Sabathia when Sabathia threw 41 more innings and had similar stats? What am I missing? I mean, I'm the biggest homer on the planet and even I don't think Beckett deserves it over Sabathia. Why is this even a debate?

While some in the crowd at The Q last night held up I-told-you-so-type signs, they cheered James when he was introduced before the Cavs' preseason game against the Wizards. Afterwards, James, who told Cleveland fans his heart was with the Yankees and "to deal with it," was suddenly extolling those Bronx Bombers-eliminating Indians."Cleveland's going to win," James said of the Indians-Red Sox series. "Like I said before, if there's got to be one team to beat New York, I want it to be Cleveland. If Cleveland does the same thing to [boston] like they did to New York, they have a great chance [to win it all]."
