Lendale White (1 Viewer)

I haven't read much about Lendale White lately, and based on the season he had this year there hasn't been much to talk about...until Carroll took over for the Seahawks. Lendale hasn't been a total bust in Tennessee...He had a 1000 yard season, and in 2008 he had 15 TD's. With Carroll running the team in Seattle it might appear that Lendale has a shot to be had fairly cheaply if the Sehawks choose to pursue him. If not the Seahawks, does he have any other street value?

I traded a 4th round pick for him mid season thinking he would catch on with another team next year. I happened to catch a few titan games later in the season.

I know CJ is special. However, a lot of times the o-line has a lot to do with making a special rb rise to the next level. I expected to see Lendale have good results in the same system.

What I saw was a slow, no burst rb who couldn't pick up 4 yards.

Seattle and Houston make the most sense if they opt to go the free agent route instead of the draft.

Regardless, he should put the weight back on, without the added power he's no better than mediocre. Although he should probably consider other means to putting on that weight than tequilla.

T.J. Duckett 2.0? I always thought Duckett could be a productive member of a RBBC later in his career if he was given a shot, but it just didn't happen. Looking at White I get the same vibe...good and bad.

A nothing-special back that eeked out a below league avg ypc in 2007 behind a great Titans-offensive line.

Hes a moderately effective short-yardage runner that can hit a hole and fall forward. He pass-blocks reasonably well.

He lacks burst and long-speed, and runs pass routes with all the precision and explosiveness of a one-legged sloth.

I imagine the Titans keep him unless Pete Carroll gets nostalgic and offers a mid-round pick.

That is the thing that is most interesting, lots of coaches thing they can bring their college players to their pro teams and have the same success they had before...Think Spurrier and Danny Wuerfel...that didn't end so good for him, but the point is sometimes it happens.

I really hope that he goes to another team. The Titans seem to be happy to give the ball to CJ almost every run play. Plus, I think it would be good to find out what they have in Ringer.

That being said, I dont think that you can evaluate what White did this year and be able to decide if he will be effective or not down the road. He rarely carried the ball and when he did, it was in short yardage situations. YPC would not be a good indicator of wether or not he will be successful. He only carried the ball 63 times last year and is only 25 years old. I refuse to believe that he won't be productive somewhere.

The best thing he could do would be to leave his situation this year, he will never get meaningful carries as long as CJ is on the roster.

I think any of these teams would be happy to have him:

Houston

Seattle

Denver

Philly

Tampa

KC

If Schwartz in Detroit doesn't inquire about him, that would be telling. The Schwartz knows this kid better than most around the league.
